The only issue for me was that I was next to a service room and the door would slam. Will request a different room next time.

Hotel at a Glance: Grand Bay San Francisco

Grand Bay San Francisco puts guests in one of the most enviable positions in California — in the heart of the Silicon Valley area, within short driving distance to San Francisco, next to the San Francisco Bay. The hotel strives to accommodate all types of guests — tourists who come to explore sunny California and those who have doing business in mind.

  • The taste of California": Hotel's Scroll Waterside Kitchen utilizes locally scoured ingredients from organic area farms.
  • Work out: After a hearty meal, guests may reduce the excess adipose tissue in the well-equipped fitness room. Chill out in rooms equipped with LED TV and broadband Internet access.
  • Start the morning right with fresh coffee (Keurig coffee machine in rooms).

South San Francisco: Landing Spot for the City by the Bay

South San Francisco sees thousands of people pass through its city limits every day via the San Francisco International Airport. Though the airport-centric burg sits in the shadow of its big sister to the north, it has some gems worth checking out, including the giant, Hollywood-style sign on a mountainside that spells out the city’s name and proclaims its status as “The Industrial City.” The eye-catching monument holds a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. There are nearly 2 miles of scenic hiking trails in the immediate vicinity, and South San Francisco's quaint downtown corridor contains about a dozen restaurants and shops.

Hospitality at Its Best During our week-long annual conference at the Grand Bay Hotel, we had the great fortune of being served by Carlos Lucar on multiple occasions at the Waterside Grill + and Lounge. Each time, he delivered an exceptional experience that truly stood out. This is our second year in a row seeing Carlos, and once again he exceeded every expectation. Carlos is the kind of professional every guest hopes to encounter. He is warm, attentive, and consistently accommodating. He has a natural ability to make people feel welcome and cared for, remembering details and anticipating needs before we even asked. His service was seamless, never rushed, and always delivered with a genuine smile. What made the difference is how he elevated our group’s dining experiences. Everyone at our table commented on how much they enjoyed having Carlos as their server. He has an easy way of connecting with people, making guests feel more like friends than customers. That kind of personal touch transforms a good experience into a memorable one. In a busy hotel environment, Carlos remained calm, professional, and friendly, managing to provide personalized attention even when things were bustling around him. He represents the very best of hospitality, combining efficiency with warmth in a way that few can. We left with wonderful memories of our time at the Grand Bay Hotel’s Waterside Grill + and Lounge, and Carlos was a big part of that. He is an absolute asset to the team, and any property would be fortunate to have him.

It’s the people who make the experience I’ve stayed at GrandBay over 25 times, and while not everything has been perfect on every visit, one thing has always been consistent: Elaine at the front desk. She’s exceptionally savvy, with a true customer-first mindset. From check-in to departure, Elaine ensures my stay is smooth and enjoyable. As the host of a large group attending corporate events at GB, I’ve seen firsthand how she goes above and beyond—not just for me, but for every member of my group. It’s people like Elaine who make the experience truly great. Thank you! Your service is always appreciated!

Bartender is great! __ Best part of this hotel is the bar. Michael is the BEST bartender here, hands down! He made all our drinks with love. Thank you for the best visit for us parents on a family vacation. __
