Cancún: Cool White Sands and Mayan Relics

Located on a barrier island shaped like the number seven, Cancún's Hotel Zone juts into the Caribbean Sea at the northeast tip of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. With the sea on one side and freshwater lagoons on the other, it's a popular spot for sailing and snorkeling. Although the beaches and barrier reefs are a major draw, the geography is equally enticing further inland, where you can dive into an underground river or take a speedboat through a mangrove jungle.

The stone columns of El Rey Ruins, an ancient Mayan site dating back to the second and third centuries BCE, lie within the city’s Hotel Zone. Believed to be a royal burial ground, the archaeological site is also home to wild iguanas that lounge in the sun.

OK LISTEN UP OKAY LISTEN UP Here is my honest review. Last time i was here was 16 years ago and A LOT has changed. Tbh, I give this resort like a 3.5 out of 5. ROOMS: omg the room we stayed in was lowkey dumpey and the washroom was so nasty i literally took the fastest showers just to get out because there is no ventilation and the finishing was disgusting. literally closed my eyes every time i was brushing my teeth because wherever i looked i thought i was going to throw up. we had the lagoon view with a massive generator running. at first it was horrible but then i actually enjoyed the white noise. FOOD: buffet lines are long and the food is lowkey like prison food. everything runs out pretty fast and the late night snack buffet is pretty much leftovers from the buffets from dinner. the restaurants however at 10/10. book your reservations for the steak house and dos lunas asap. their food was actually really good. i really liked the mexican restuarant as well. my boyfriend and i literally ordered everything off the menu cause why not lol. BEACH: TO DIE FOR. yes people hog the chairs for no reason but honestly just snatch as you find one. but tbh you wont need it because once you enter the water you will not want to come out. just reserve a chair or two by the pool and leave your stuff there. youre welcome. ENTERAINMENT: the beach club was meh i mean it only lasts like 2 hours but they do play music from 11-5 which is nice. lots of booty shaking and what not. nightly entertainment was fun but only lasts until 10:30 and then it shuts down. bars are open until 11 and the havana sports bar, well good luck getting in there... if youre young, take the bus or taxi or whatever to coco bongo but also be careful what you get into because you never know whats waiting for you. SAFETY: overall pretty decent, we didnt leave the hotel but there were some dudes trying to sell us water phone cases and vapes and stuff and one said he had blow so just be careful because they can be kinda creepy. you can find these weirdos sitting at the entrance of the beach club or lurking around at night around the resort. weridos. OVERALL: i'd give this resort like a 3.5/5. Would i come back? absolutely not. I loved the beach the most and i wish i was still floating in that gorgeous gorgeous water. P.S. IF YOU FIND BIG SHELLS OR CHONCHES JUST KNOW THAT SECURITY WILL TAKE THEM AWAY FROM YOU AT THE AIRPORT SO THROW THEM IN UR CHECKED LUGGAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok bye

Avoid At All Cost Skip Grand Oasis Cancun if you value good food and a stress free trip. My stay was nothing like what an all inclusive should be. On the first night, almost every dining option was either closed early or “at capacity,” so the only thing left was a tiny buffet with food that looked like it had been sitting out too long. Not exactly the welcome I expected. What really pushed this resort onto my never again list was the sales pitch they rope you into. Ours dragged on, and the representative kept tossing around the idea of a huge penalty fee if we didn’t follow their presentation schedule exactly. It felt less like a tour and more like we were being scolded. Even breakfast during the meeting was weirdly controlled, like we were only allowed to choose certain items. The whole thing was uncomfortable and unnecessary on a vacation. The property itself looks great on the surface. The pools are nice, and the beach is genuinely beautiful. But access is another story. Bars were constantly out of basic drinks, lines moved slowly, and beach chairs seemed reserved for select guests. We ended up going off site just to get decent meals and avoid the hassle. In the end, I’d rate Grand Oasis Cancun around half a star. Pretty place, but the service, food, and overall experience don’t match the promise of an all inclusive. I won’t be staying with the Oasis brand ever again.

Worst experience in Cancun. This was my worst experience in Cancun. I've never been to a resort where the food was so horrible, I felt deprived. The first night every restaurant was booked and closed by 8pm. The buffet was open with very limited and not appealing looking foods. What made this experience worse for me was the 120 minute sales presentation. The sales rep Isreal immediately threatened us with a $2000 fine because my fiance turned around to look at a palm tree. Isreal then proceeded to ask me if I got this deal from Monster travel group. Which i did. He shared that the hotel doesn't like to deal with Monster anymore because of the quality and character of ppl they bring. We ate breakfast during the presentation. Isreal told us we had to order exactly what was on the menu. I couldn't get eggs with cheese and my fiance couldn't get eggs without ham. Since we were Monster ppl that's all they would allow. We got our food the way we wanted against his wishes. He bought up the $2000 fine a few more times for not completing the tour. Though I was there and present. So it didn't make sense. As we were eating he stated we had to hurry up and eat, (he was still eating). Now I started to get upset. We struggled the night before for food. Now we're being told we have to rush and eat? Isreal then pulled out a piece of paper he wanted me to read. The paper said something about not completing the tour and the $2000. I was annoyed but still trying to keep my composure. He asked me if I understood what I read. I answered no, because I didn't understand why he was badgering us in that way. He then said, "What you don't understand, you can't read?" At this point I asked my fiance to record. It seemed as if Isreal desperately wanted to charge me $2000. He bought it up 5 times in less then an hour. I calmly asked him to stop threatening us, and to stop talking to us in that way. It was my birthday and I was on vacation. Isreal, the sales rep who chose his job to sell to me, tried to treat me like a peasant because I got a discount. I had an anxiety attack and another guest came over to intervene. She asked Isreal to give me a few minutes because what he was doing wasn't good for my health. A manager came. Though after having an anxiety attack on my bday everything was sour from there. The resort itself was nice. There were many pools and some entertainment. However it was a task to get drinks at bars that would serve us. The bars barely had white wine. So I just bought my own bottles. We had to leave the resort to get good food. Most of the times there are long lines for all food and drinks. The beach was beautiful though there aren't any chairs or umbrellas unless your VIP. Lastly, I feel bad for all the VIP ppl and the guests that didn't get a discount. The food and service was worth the discount I paid. I will never go to any brand of Oasis hotels. I most certainly will not be recommending it to anyone either. Oasis Grand Cancun gets a 2.5 stars. For the location and the pool and beach areas. However an all inclusive should have more access to food and drinks.
