Reno, Nevada: Casino City with Arts and Outdoor Adventure

Reno lives up to its billing as “The Biggest Little City in the World" thanks to its flashy casinos, cultural centers, and restaurants worthy of a much larger metropolis, all packed together on Virginia Street. If you need a break from courting Lady Luck at the big gaming palaces such as Circus Circus and Harrah's (which was born here), head to the Truckee River Arts District to explore the Nevada Museum of Art and the National Automobile Museum. Because of its location at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and just east of Tahoe National Forest, the city also puts visitors within reach of rushing rivers and high mountain ranges for hiking, rafting, and gold-rush reenacting.

Lucky trip to the casino accompanied by 5 star service. I hit a jackpot and was treated like a king by rocky sidher the floor manager and Hassan the slot attendant. They made sure that I was escorted safely and that I was well taken care of. Thanks for being a part of my win, fellas.

NICOLE IS THE ANSWER I had a great experience at the GSR Cafe. Nicole Allaback provided my wife and me with great service. Her superior job performance resulted in her making sure that the Cafe was extraordinary. She actually waited on our table to ensure that we enjoyed an innovative experience. Look for her during your next visit if you want the best.

Unbelievable for this day and age We were in Reno for my husband’s Army reunion. I had checked in on my phone from home and that was the only positive thing that happened re our check in. We arrived at 10:30 am and after many rude encounters and a lot of excuses, we finally got a room key at 4:45. And it went downhill from there. The excuse I heard over all 4 days was- we are very busy and almost full. Finally got a room key from the front desk manager who directed us to the right elevator. Get to the room and the keys don’t work. Go back down to get new keys and finally got inside our room around 5:30. There was one washcloth for 2 of us and no one cleaned the room. When I asked about getting clean towels and getting the bed made, I was told you had to request that. No extra pillows or a blanket of any kind available in the room. You have to pay for the first nite’s stay ahead of time. Your bill gets a $50 a day “ incidental fee added to it which is supposed to be refunded at checkout. No one smiled the entire 4 day visit. Few people working there knew any details about where things were and when you asked, the person snapped at you. Cigarette smoke was actually not as bad as other casinos around the country, but it was still pretty strong. No towel racks in the restroom in our room, so if you dried with a towel, there was no place to hang it Poor lighting in the restroom made makeup application difficult. When you turned off the lite switch at the door, all lites went off in the entire room, and you couldn’t see a thing. When I checked in, I was told to use the kiosk, where 4 different amts came up as our bill. Even the manager on the house computer got 4 different amts and commented that it was very odd. Plus there is a $35 extra charge if you self check in on the kiosk. There is a $30 charge if you check in before 3:00 pm. But the worst part was the rudeness of all the employees. There was fast food available but only 3 nice places to eat. The servers in those places were very kind and they smiled a lot. We have stayed in Motel 6 places that were nicer and cleaner. Very disappointing stay.
