Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina's Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile and buzzes with carnival games and amusement-park rides. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk's hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 100 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

Trapped on the balcony Nice view from the balcony unfortunately the door locked itself behind me. Lucky the people on the balcony next door let me climb over and walk through their room. The guy at the front fest was very nice and helpful but the lady that was there the next morning seemed completely uninterested in her job.

Lost that loving feeling. ❤️ Went here on motorcycle week between mother's Day weekend and motorcycle weekend. Very discouraged by the pool maintenance division of this motel. Hot tubs were not as hot as they should be and they lacked the most important element water. All of them were constantly not full of water, even the outdoor one. There was a pool staff guy at the towel rack that hardly would ever move to take the dirty towels away. The towel bins would be overflowing the whole time I was there. Security was very good. He walks around the pool area quite a bit. My room was not as clean as in previous years. I think this place is going downhill fast. Wasn't as clean inside. Like the common areas, the game room and the laundry room were dirty. Security needs to walk the parking deck more. Lots of crazy stuff. Seems to be going on there. Food at the cafe didn't seem as good as in years past. Did enjoy the pizza however in the restaurant Deep South. Starbucks was very convenient right at the hotel. Maintenance issues like the hot tubs and cleanliness of rooms seems to be lacking at this hotel. Elderly people seem to be avoiding this location. Cleanliness is usually why they go to places. It just didn't seem to have cleanliness going for it. That's probably what's keeping them not coming there. If you see old people, it's a good indication it's going to be a good place. Place has become too wild with a bad element here.

Year 22 Annual Golf Trip @ Grande Cayman Resort Our golf threesome spent our year 22 annual golf trip for the first time here. Overall we were quite satisfied with our 3 bedroom Ocean Front condo. Furnishings nice and in good shape. No issues with lodging. Breakfast provided daily as part of package. Only complaint is the upcharge of $3.00 for juices and inconsistency of the grits, too soupy most days. Minor issue with check-in due to our early arrival but resolved by newly hired semi-retired staff member Melody. Overall quite satisfied with our stay, friendliness of the staff, and yes we would stay here again.

Delicious pizza at Due South We sat at the bar and ate at Due South. We ordered the pepperoni and buffalo chicken pizza and It was delicious. They make their own sauce and dough. The pizza was NY style and the portions were very generous. Our bartender was fantastic. She was attentive and even when they were busy she kept up with our drinks.

Best Spring Break We reserved a three bedroom oceanfront condo for Spring Break 2025 at the Grand Cayman Resort, Myrtle Beach, SC. Check-in took just a few minutes, and the front desk was pleasant and welcoming. Our condo was on the 10th floor and was immaculate. Our housekeeper, Juana, even thought to turn the ice machine on, so we had ice cubes already made. The beds were very comfortable, two bathrooms and a washer and dryer a big plus. The view, of course, is spectacular. There is no daily housekeeping because you have a virtual assistant. You send a message that you need towels, garbage pickup, paper towels, or toilet tissue, and someone is there within minutes. Towels are provided for pool use but can not be taken to the beach. There is a pool attendant there daily, and I have to specifically mention Nina. She goes above and beyond what we observed the other attendants do. Nina not only managed the towel station, she cleaned up around the pools, in the pools, hot tubs, and lazy river. At times, when necessary, she spoke to some teens who were playing a bit too roughly around younger children. Her dedication and attention to detail did not go unnoticed by the Resort's guests. I hope the resort lets her know she was appreciated. We had one of our best spring breaks at the Grand Cayman. The staff are all very pleasant, drinks at the pool side tiki bar were great, food at both the Turtle Bay Cafe and Due South Restaurant was good. Starbucks coffee, which I don't normally drink, was willing to fix my ice coffee just the way I like it. Too top off, the almost perfect vacation was the 4 elevators that worked the whole entire time we were there. They were fast, clean, and in perfect working order. (A first for us in almost 30 plus years of spring breaks in Myrtle Beach) Overall, I don't think this could have been a better vacation unless you could wave a magic wand and make the 13-hour drive home go faster. Thank you, Grand Cayman Resort! We will be back, and this will be our go-to place to stay.
