Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may be forever associated with the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks—the world’s most-visited entertainment resort. Spanning roughly 30,000 acres, it encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. Walk across the park to sample Moroccan cuisine for lunch, or ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. Before heading back to the hotel, take in the nightly fireworks, laser, and water show. One of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is also home to Universal Orlando—which includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando’s vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which hosts family-friendly improv shows five nights a week.

What is puzzling is that I never booked this reservation. I was inquiring on availability and dates then somehow Groupon sent me an order confirmation. I contacted Groupon and they will not fix the error even though the charge on my credit card statement is from Groupon they want me to contact Diamond Resort. Diamond Resort tried to contact Groupon with no luck and told me to dispute the charge.

I stayed here twice. Our initial stay was because we decided to head to Florida sooner and our vacation rental home was not available. We came back because our vacation rental home was not as described when we booked it. The second stay was terrible. We were booked for a one bedroom and a two bedroom reservation (we did not book both rooms). When I arrived at checkin Carla advised me that Groupon should not have booked me in a 2 bedroom unit and the reservation will be rejected and refunded. She could only check me in the 1 bedroom reservation that I did not make. She asked for my Driver’s License as if she was trying to help me and typed something into another computer and apologized that she did not see a reservation in my name or my spouse’s name. We stepped out the lobby to see if I could find another place that was large enough to accommodate my party. We came back in and Carla was gone Stefan was now working check-in. He again only saw a reservation for a one bedroom unit, but upgraded us to a 2 bedroom for a fee. My take on this is that this place is trying to sell timeshares, hence the Groupon. My first stay was a nice room my second stay the room was dated, the hanging light over the table was installed side ways (someone tall could hit their head), the floor was sticky and the appliances were older. When I made my reservations it was directly through Groupon and the next morning I went in and there is a link with Tripdvisor, so I bet it was a glitch in their system as to me being booked when we were selecting dates to get a quote for the second stay. Groupon’s customer service is terrible and Grande Villas is too. I am now having to dispute charges for an error in Groupon’s system. I would say to ask for an updated room and book directly with Grande Villa, because Groupon is not any help is there is an issue that arises. All they can do is take your money!
