Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may be forever associated with the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks—the world’s most-visited entertainment resort. Spanning roughly 30,000 acres, it encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. Walk across the park to sample Moroccan cuisine for lunch, or ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. Before heading back to the hotel, take in the nightly fireworks, laser, and water show. One of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is also home to Universal Orlando—which includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which hosts family-friendly improv shows five nights a week.

Big resort with tons to do. It was clean and nice except the hallway carpet had a smell. But the lobby and the apartment was nice and clean. Loved the pools and the waterpark.

All-Exclusive Resort!!! Presents well, but lacks execution and personality!!! We stayed two nights at The Grove during our recent visit to Orlando. Overall, our stay was OK, but there were just a lot of unnecessary disappointments. The letdowns started at arrival for us. We arrived after 11am and were told that our room was ready. They tried to charge us an early check-in fee of $75!!! They verbally said that if I'm not willing to pay it then they'll give the room to someone that is willing, and I can wait until 4pm for check-in. Early check-in is only permitted without fees after 2pm, although they welcomed you to stay on site and spend money at the restaurants and pools. Well, I was back at check-in at 1:55pm, and I was once again assessed a $75 early check-in fee. No, I am not kidding. Yes, I had to stand there and wait until 2:01pm to check in. Customer service at its worst! The following morning, I texted with the front desk to let them know we'd be out of our room and it was ready to be made up. They quickly replied that they will schedule a service for an additional fee of $45. ...ummmm, is this an Air B&B or is this a "resort". Later that afternoon, we ordered lunch pool-side. When it arrived, it was absent our two waters and our son received a cheeseburger instead of a hot dog. I walked over to the bar area, and I asked one of the gentlemen if he could swap out the cheeseburger for the kid's hot dog. He said he would, but then one of the ladies interjected and said, "Nope! Absolutely not! He has to show you a receipt before you can do that for him." The guy looked at her like she was insane, but she put her foot down, and they made me walk all the way back to the other side of the pool to get my receipt before swapping out what I ordered. C'mon now...it's not like I was there saying I didn't get my food...I was bringing back an item that we didn't order. Then came the notification that check-out must be completed by 10am or a "late check-out fee" will apply! Enough is enough. These may seem like trivial things, but when you pile them up one after the other after the other, it starts to become insulting. This place has potential, but they need a significant overhaul in staff friendliness and customer service. Oh, and, I almost forgot...they even charge you for parking your car overnight...as if they are in a metro area of some sort. There is more than enough parking on site, and there is no need to bang you over the head here...but, of course, they do!!! Lastly, I'll throw in that all of the pool areas are clean and nice. There's only two water slides, so "Water Park" is an over-statement. There is a kiddie area, but my son was too big for that, and that's not what I consider a water park.

Bar service with Sebastian I had such an amazing experience today with Sebastian the Bartender. After a long day at the waterpark, I wanted to relax and check out the resort scenery. I came to the bar and was immediately greeted by Sebastian. He has great hospitality and is very attentive. Made me feel very comfortable even though it was pouring raining he still managed to get me a good dry spot. Thank you for your service tonight :)

Decent Resort with Pricey Fees The resort is beautiful and the staff was friendly. For the amount you pay for the stay, there could be some improvements. Parking is $29 plus tax per night and the room incidental fee is $100 per night, up to $300. The parking garage is very narrow and barely allows space to get in and out of your vehicle. There is no daily housekeeping, which isn't uncommon nowadays, however, we were told we would receive a daily refresh on certain things and that did not happen. I called housekeeping several times and never got an answer. We spent a lot of time doing laundry because we had to repeatedly wash the same wash cloths and towels. The "waterpark" was cute. There's not a lot of shade, so if you go in the summer months, be ready to melt unless you pay for a cabana or premium seating. We would stay again, however, next time we know what to expect.
