Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may be forever associated with the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks—the world’s most-visited entertainment resort. Spanning roughly 30,000 acres, it encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. Walk across the park to sample Moroccan cuisine for lunch, or ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. Before heading back to the hotel, take in the nightly fireworks, laser, and water show. One of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is also home to Universal Orlando—which includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which hosts family-friendly improv shows five nights a week.

Big resort with tons to do. It was clean and nice except the hallway carpet had a smell. But the lobby and the apartment was nice and clean. Loved the pools and the waterpark.

Money grabbers Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Stayed at the grove for 2 weeks and just left yesterday. I was e-mailing them prior to arrival to enquire about a bigger room. No one ever replied to me. When we got there I asked about it and was actually going to go ahead and book it until they told me I had to pay a security deposit of $300. That was fine but I told them we’d leave the room upgrade and we stuck with the room we had. When checking out yesterday I got a notification from my bank to say £170 had come out to the grove and got an invoice from the at the same time detailing a room upgrade. We never actually went ahead with the upgrade to begin with. They said they’d refund the money. Just landed back in the UK and got another notification from my bank to say they taken another £394 out. No explanation. Called them and the guy I spoke to was super unhelpful. Told me he had no access to the accounts and couldn’t help. Tried e-mailing and sent a screen shot from my bank. Got a reply saying they’d no idea what I was talking about and a refund for yesterday’s charge was being processed… but nothing in relation to today’s charge. I’ve mailed them back twice and asked for a call. No reply. I’m £600 down in 24 hours for charges that no one seems to no anything about. They don’t reply to e-mails, they don’t call when promised. Avoid this hotel if you want your bank balance to remain in tact. .

Sebastian @ the Springs Bar! Sebastian at Springs Bar has given exceptional experience, quick fast and provided fun vibe! The interaction from beginning to end was enthusiastic with an immediate understanding of what my party wanted. He gave many more offers on my options to ensure I got the best drink for my taste palette. I was in small rush but Sebastian managed everything in a timely manner for my party. I recommended some of my friends to him as well! 5 out of 5 without a doubt! definitely going to recommend him to many other connections as well as the resort itself. I will come back again very soon!

Brits abroad! Family of 6 (4 children (10, 11x2, and 13) and 2 adults) visiting from the UK. Huge apartment. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Kitchen, utility, living area, plenty of storage, and a secure balcony. All air-conditioned and lovely clean and homely. No faults with the rooms at all. Blackout blinds, big soft comfy beds and great showers. TV in every room with loads of channels for down time after a busy day. We also had our towels changed regularly and apartment cleaned once a week. Only a couple of tiny little moans but this is more a heads up then a complaint... 1. Our room didn't have a kettle. We boiled a pan for cups of tea (as they had a coffee machine) but I'd recommend taking a kettle. 2. The rooms aren't well sound proofed so if you're a light sleeper, take ear plugs. You can hear the people above walking about, people in the corridors, guests sat talking on their own balconies surrounding you, even talking and dragging chairs around from the ground floor bar below us (we were 5 floors up). If you're a light sleeper, plugs do the job. Pool areas are fab. Lots of choice, plenty of sunbeds, lifeguards for safety, music for atmosphere and little pool bars here and there for snacks and ice creams. (VERY expensive though, 2 bottles of coke and 3 ice creams was $30). Water park is 2 slides and a lazy river with about 10 rings between 300 guests but the kids and I had great fun. Very clean and tidy and well maintained. Reception area does get busy but we arrived midnight so didn't experience queues and you don't need to queue to check out so it wasn't an issue but I can see what guests are saying about the queues in other reviews, they were 45 - 60 minutes long during the day. Heres a heads up... the shop is disgustingly expensive $6 for milk! Everything was so overpriced and the staff very unfriendly. Nothing is priced so be warned and when you ask for prices, you get attitude. Just get to Target and do a big shop and don't use it (unless you want Starbucks in the morning which was home for home price wise and nice drinks). Location is spot on. 25 minutes from Disney and 45 Seaworld/Universal/MCO. Uber is the cheapest form of transport. The hotel charge $25 a day to park. The parks want an extra $30 a day to park. Car hire, gas, insurance about $1500 for XL 7 seater... we spent $1000 on taxis for 2 weeks too and from the parks and on an evening too and from restaurants so saved huge money. And the longest we waited for an Uber was 12 minutes and they pick you up from outside the door and entrances to parks so fastest way to get about. Longhorn Steakhouse was our fav restaurant. Applebees was great as was Olive Garden all 10 mins from hotel. Some nights we got McDs and Domino's delivered which was so easy and quick. We would 100% come back. Maybe not book through Virgin though as we were hit with a resort tax when we arrived ($300 we luckily had on a card).
