Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may be forever associated with the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks—the world’s most-visited entertainment resort. Spanning roughly 30,000 acres, it encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. Walk across the park to sample Moroccan cuisine for lunch, or ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. Before heading back to the hotel, take in the nightly fireworks, laser, and water show. One of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is also home to Universal Orlando—which includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which hosts family-friendly improv shows five nights a week.

Big resort with tons to do. It was clean and nice except the hallway carpet had a smell. But the lobby and the apartment was nice and clean. Loved the pools and the waterpark.

Convenient location and decent price. Pools big and spacious, hot tub way too small for such a big resort. Navigating through property is very confusing. Water park was closed the entire week we were here which was a Huge Disappointment since that was part of the reason we chose this place. Sofa bed had a completely worn out mattress which they replaced when we notified them. Bed frame in one room has bars sticking out that we hit our legs on, they were unable to correct this issue so we placed a pillow over the bars. Rooms were not stocked with enough blankets and bathroom tissue before we checked in. Paddle boats were ok. Poolside drinks were great. Kids had fun at arcade, a little overpriced though. The 3 bed 3 bath suite was a decent price. Overall good experience. Not the best and not the worst. 20 minutes to Disney World. Many restaurants nearby. ROBERT who works the front desk gave a Great first and last impression, he’s friendly, helpful, and informative.

Save your money and just don’t Let me start by saying I’m not one of those entitled people. I’ve stayed at great places and awful places as well. I’m very much a “get what you pay for” type of person. This hotel was horrible, Upon check in we find that there’s a $300 resort fee which whatever, it is what it is, we ask about it and the girl at the desk with a snippy attitude is basically like well you should’ve known. It was late so we figure maybe we’re cranky and took it wrong. We get to the room and notice they forget our pillows and blankets. Simple fix, we call housekeeping. After about an hour or 2 of nothing we call back, front desk girl proceeded to accuse us of lying about the blankets not being dropped off, after some back and forth she says “she’s not in the mood to argue with us” and hangs up on us. We go downstairs because what? Ask who just hung up on us and she say “I did what are you gonna do about it”. After speaking to 2 managers about this that night and the next morning, we were promised the resort fee waived and $100 off one night. Cool….except they never gave it to us. Besides that all of the sinks in the unit were clogged, lightbulbs needed to be changed, washing machine was covered in mold, the place overall wasn’t dirty, but you can tell there wasn’t attention to some details. At the waterpark, only the lazy River was heated. It was to cold to really utilize any of the other pools. The flow rider is extra, the arcade is extra, boat rentals extra so that 300 dollar resort fee covers???? I guess your privilege of being able to spend your money there? In the afternoon into the late night they blast music- we stayed in building 1 and faced the main entrance, even up on the 5th floor the music was loud and didn’t get shut off until 10pm. After a day in the parks and everyone is exhausted it’s not ideal. We tried out the restaurant on site, Valencia - overpriced school cafeteria food. They automatically added a 20% gratuity which I expect from a hotel, but I shouldn’t have to ask twice for Caesar dressing for my bare Caesar salad. For the same price or a little more just go to Westgate and do their presentation, or stay at the Hilton vacation resorts. This place is a joke.
