Never got to use the Groupon. The hotel had no record of it. I had to end up paying AGAIN at the hotel. Still trying to get a refund from Groupon. It’s been over a week now. Such an inconvenience. Will never use Groupon again.

Jacksonville, Florida: Beaches, Live Entertainment, and the Scenic St. Johns River

The St. Johns River—which meanders through the middle of Jacksonville, Florida—is one of the only rivers in America that flows north. Along its banks is The Jacksonville Landing, which has been attracting residents and visitors for more than 20 years with international eateries, live-music clubs, and more than 300 special events held every year. It’s worth walking across the bright-blue Main Street Bridge to Southbank to see Friendship Fountain, which puts on a dazzling light show at night. Next door to the fountain, at the Museum of Science & History, you’ll find several aquariums filled with Floridian fish.

Jacksonville sits right off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, and its beaches are frequented by kiteboarders and surfers. More than 80,000 acres of parkland lie within the city limits—for a low-key hike or bike ride, head to one of the many state parks. Little Talbot Island State Park’s beaches are rife with sand dunes, and at Fort Clinch State Park, you can take a daily tour past Civil War reenactors or explore native wildlife on self-guided nature trails.

Best staff ever!!! I stayed two nights with my boyfriend and a long time friend who met up with us. All three of us had an absolute wonderful stay. We were greeted by the two most hospitable women I have ever encountered. We explained that we were deciding between Margaritaville and the Hampton Inn. They immediately gave us a card to tour the pool area. They helped us figure out the best rates based on our Hilton Honors status. Their energy was so inviting we decided on the spot to skip Margaritaville. We were so glad we did. Breakfast was great and the pool bar had great food too. I want to be sure to shout out the names of the staff who made our stay so wonderful. Front Desk: Sarah and the other woman working with Sarah when we checked in Sunday Nov 30. They were a great team. Inside Bar: Miah was so much fun. He had us rolling and his bartending skills were amazing too.

Well, it is at the ocean, but…. I’ll be nice This is a tired, old hotel where the staff is nice and tries to present a positive experience, but is overmatched by what looks like the lack of an operational budget and upper managerial direction. Really, Hilton shouldn’t allow their name to be associated with this property. The only thing comfortable with this stay, was the bed.

Hilton Time to Spend $$$ PROS: GREAT LOCATION and balcony rooms a must. Wonderful staff, one of the best pools in the area, okay breakfast, nice small bar for the evening offering food and great service. CONS: Parking $18.25 a night, entire hotel is in dire need of complete renovations. Room musty smell, cheap thin linens, bathrooms show wear and tear
