Never got to use the Groupon. The hotel had no record of it. I had to end up paying AGAIN at the hotel. Still trying to get a refund from Groupon. It’s been over a week now. Such an inconvenience. Will never use Groupon again.

Jacksonville, Florida: Beaches, Live Entertainment, and the Scenic St. Johns River

The St. Johns River—which meanders through the middle of Jacksonville, Florida—is one of the only rivers in America that flows north. Along its banks is The Jacksonville Landing, which has been attracting residents and visitors for more than 20 years with international eateries, live-music clubs, and more than 300 special events held every year. It’s worth walking across the bright-blue Main Street Bridge to Southbank to see Friendship Fountain, which puts on a dazzling light show at night. Next door to the fountain, at the Museum of Science & History, you’ll find several aquariums filled with Floridian fish.

Jacksonville sits right off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, and its beaches are frequented by kiteboarders and surfers. More than 80,000 acres of parkland lie within the city limits—for a low-key hike or bike ride, head to one of the many state parks. Little Talbot Island State Park’s beaches are rife with sand dunes, and at Fort Clinch State Park, you can take a daily tour past Civil War reenactors or explore native wildlife on self-guided nature trails.

Great family hotel! We had a great family experience staying here. The people at the front desk were wonderful. We arrived about 3 1/2 hours early and Steve checked us in and had our room ready way before our check in time. Everytime we had any interaction with the front desk they were very accommodating and very pleasant. We had 2 King suites overlooking the enormous pool and they were very nice, comfortable , clean and quiet in spite of the hotel being sold out the weekend we were there. The beds were comfy, we had a mini fridge, microwave and a nice sofa, plus our balcony gave us a nice view of the pool and ocean. They have a great gym for being a hotel. Also a better than average free breakfast and a Chickee bar that serves food and some great frozen drinks and IPAs. The beach is like 50 yards from there. They have umbrella and lounges for rent on the beach. There’s lots of good places to eat and drink in the area. We went to Salt Life and The Refinery. Both were great! The pool is amazing. They also have a hot tub. Their housekeeping personnel were throughly great. No problem getting extra towels, etc. and they were very cordial. Only complaint would be the ac in the room was noisy but we were told they are beginning renovations soon and replacing units along the way. Overall the place is well run and the employees all seem happy to work there. We have been there in the past and it’s very consistent in the experiences I’ve had there before. We will be back again.

Needs some upkeep and a deep cleaning. We stayed overnight on way home from a cruise. Great access to the beach. Pool is fine. Friendly staff. Just not well maintained and in desperate need of an overhaul. Elevators are beat up with railing falling off the wall, no air conditioning in the hallway and it smelled like wet dog. Room was surface clean, but carpet and flooring was grimy from lack of any real cleaning. You slide around on the tile in your shoes from the oily grime layer and the carpet was in much need of replacing. Thermostat does not matter as you can set it to 64, but never goes below 71 which would be fine except it was damp in the room and the condenser would not run enough to get the moisture out of the air. Assume this is also why the hallway smelled. Also, no conditioner in the shower. I realize beachfront hotels are harder to maintain, but this was not up to the standards we are used to finding from a Hampton Inn.

Disappointed and Dirty Disappointing Stay — Not Worth the Price We stayed at this hotel for three nights, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The room was dirty and poorly maintained — the kind of place where you don’t feel comfortable taking your shoes off. Housekeeping never came by once during our stay, and we had to manage without clean towels, toilet paper, or even fresh coffee cups. With no ventilation or fan in the bathroom, nothing would dry properly. The entire floor smelled unpleasant, and trash and used beach towels were left sitting in the hallways for extended periods. The lack of cleanliness and service made the stay very uncomfortable. The beach view was the one redeeming feature, but it was nowhere near worth the price we paid. I would not recommend this hotel and would give zero stars if I could.
