Atlantic City, New Jersey: Casinos and Carnival Rides Lining Historical Beachside Boardwalk

No trip to Atlantic City is complete without a stroll along its signature boardwalk, which stretches for 6 miles along New Jersey's eastern coast. Originally built in 1870 to keep sand out of hotel lobbies, the boardwalk grew in popularity as a place where you could drink and gamble during Prohibition without much trouble from the police, as depicted in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. The boardwalk is still popular for its casinos, but it's family-friendly, too; visitors are just as inclined to sit at the beach or stop at one of the many carnival rides.

On the boardwalk, it's worth it to check out the Absecon Lighthouse, which is more than 150 years old. It's possible to climb its 228 steps to the top, which features sweeping views of the city skyline and the sea.

Loved the place and the room. Although I asked for non smoking. It smelled like cigarettes. But the room was nice.

Harrahs Front desk experience Thanksgiving 2025 Harrah’s Associate Neha does a fantastic job at Harrah’s Front Desk Got to the FRONT DESK (FD) and there, she welcomes me and family to Harrah’s, smiling and with a nice greeting. Identification and pulling the reservation was funny Makes that process human not a business thing. That is what you need after driving a couple of hours, in the rain, and delays. She converted the reservation into a great room, with a cool view to the ocean, close to the playing area and restaurants, and at the end a great memory! She knows a lot on that job and U see her peers asking questions smiling and getting answers for their customers. That is a big Hotel and had many choices and visitor categories and flavors of rooms. While waiting your turn, U see how she crossed smiles with her customers. When U finally arrive at Ur room. Voila! You Thanks Neha for the room and the view. No question, Neha is an asset to Harrah's

Dirtiest Hotel I Have Ever Stayed In. Room has very dim lighting so it was hard to see everything at first. The chair had crud all over it. We did not use the in room refrigerator but checked it before checking out. After being there three nights we found left over food not belonging to us, obviously a previous guest. There was dust hanging off the ceilings and walls in the bathroom. The bathroom shelves looked like they have never been dusted. There was mildew in the grout of the shower. The detail of the bathroom door was covered in dust. The bathroom bathroom vanity frame has mold on it and the corner of the bathroom floor was disgusting. The side of the dresser near the vanity mirror had dried up white drips down the side. I went to the hotel desk to complain and was told they would deep clean it for the next guest. I guess $500 for three nights was not enough for a clean room. I asked to speak to a manager and she said the best she can do is give me a $100 food credit but I would only be there for breakfast before I checked out so I probably wouldn't use it all, which I didn't. The balance didn't apply to other meals I charged to my room. I told her my reservations were for the Coastal wing and she stated we were upgraded to Bayview. If this is an upgrade, I don't know how they are passing inspections. This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at and I will never return.

HARRAH'S IN ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY WORST VACATION EXPERIENCE EVER! Worst vacation experience of my life, it was supposed to be the most special. It was my and my husbands 5th wedding anniversary and he has been away almost 5 years so this was our first one spent together. We spent time picking the casino and decided Harrahs would be a good choice. We were SO wrong. My husband even called ahead to tell them this was a special trip for us, and at the time of that call they didn’t seem to care much saying” they put a note in”. Traffic was kinda bad, so the 5.5 hour travel took closer to 9 hours, when we got to check in, they offered to upgrade our room for an additional $300 a night. We aren’t rich, so of course we couldn’t do that. We get the valet ticket and room keys and go back to get our things. We get all our bags out the car, got no help, and no cart so we had to carry ALL of our bags to our room……it’s late and we traveled all day so we just unpacked and went to bed. The next day when we go to valet to get our car and it’s an issue because the employee on duty left the paperwork for my vehicle laying on counter and went on break, and the manager Julio, came along and threw it away. The employee who had went on break without doing her job with my 2020 Mercedes, was very rude and unprofessional. With her nasty attitude she also decided to chime into my private conversation with my husband and didn’t like the response I gave her and accused me of being under the influence. I’m in recovery, and celebrate my 3rd year of abstinence from ALL substances, on December 22nd, so to say I was offended is a total understatement. We decided to go play a slot while waiting for the car and when we went to retrieve it they had the manager Julio and 3 security guards and said we couldn’t valet any more. Again, I’m super offended and should leave at this point and stay elsewhere because it’s clear to see they don’t care about the people who stay there. But we didn’t…and from being a little flustered from the interaction with valet that I left my wallet sitting on the valet counter, and of course “ they haven’t seen a wallet” when I went back to see if it was still there. Both me and my husband driver’s license’s, bank and credit cards, insurance, and so on. Everything needs to be replaced :/ So when leaving to go home, the bell who was taking my bags down and loading the car was begging for his tip starting upstairs, then again downstairs, then again loading the car,he even yelled out how he has cash app when he didn’t get handed cash, while putting our bags into the truck of the car…. after driving about 7.5 hours we get home. Next day go to unpack and one of my bags isn’t here….so I guess the bellman was upset about the lack of tip and decided to take my bag. It had ALL my makeup and face and hair stuff, $200 flat iron… just gone. It just was an all around awful experience at every point of contact with this hotel and all its employees. I can choose to tip, but after the experience I’ve had with everyone here I don’t have too and DAMN sure not if they gonna act like I have to. I had little luggage and I carried it up to my room and helped load it onto cart when leaving…I’m quite literally SHOCKED at how unprofessional everyone was. I wouldn’t go back to this hotel if it was free and they gave me money to play in the casino. If you want your car, your bags, your conversation,or your person to be respected then don’t go to Harrahs in Atlantic City. They hire just anybody, and they let them be careless, disrespectful, very very unprofessional and beg. Maybe my expectations were to high, I usually go to Vegas, and they treat everyone like royalty so when you come there you spend your money in their casino since their are many to choose from. My husband and I went to The Borgata, and The MGM to gamble. We ate at Fiesta Pizza twice because it was amazing. The family who own it are very kind and have the best Calzones. We had the best time aside from every single point of contact at Harrah’s. Then I leave a bad review on Google and they want to respond to it saying I could call to discuss my issues further, but I’m not interested, I tried over and over to get them to listen and I got hung up on several times after being asked to hold, they have been very rude and most definitely unhelpful and unfortunately even hurtful. Why would I reach out again? That’s insanity. I’m just gonna cut my losses, and spread the word so that others don’t waste their money going there. Everything already cost too much and vacations are something we ALL work hard for, nobody wants to go on vacation, and have their car, their things, their personal conversations and just all around peace disrespected. It’s seems like they posted up a job fair outside the local jail, no joke! _____
