Atlantic City, New Jersey: Casinos and Carnival Rides Lining Historical Beachside Boardwalk

No trip to Atlantic City is complete without a stroll along its signature boardwalk, which stretches for 6 miles along New Jersey's eastern coast. Originally built in 1870 to keep sand out of hotel lobbies, the boardwalk grew in popularity as a place where you could drink and gamble during Prohibition without much trouble from the police, as depicted in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. The boardwalk is still popular for its casinos, but it's family-friendly, too; visitors are just as inclined to sit at the beach or stop at one of the many carnival rides.

On the boardwalk, it's worth it to check out the Absecon Lighthouse, which is more than 150 years old. It's possible to climb its 228 steps to the top, which features sweeping views of the city skyline and the sea.

Loved the place and the room. Although I asked for non smoking. It smelled like cigarettes. But the room was nice.

Amazing and fun! Sharon at the front desk is literally amazing! Whatever you are paying her isn’t enough! Amid a throng of angry and irritable, screaming people, all pushing and shoving to get checked in, she was a wonderful sea of calm and happiness! She never lost her cool and her smile and friendly demeanor was the best part of our stay! What an amazing time we had at your resort, all due to Sharon’s kindness and hospitality! You have a real treasure with her at the helm!

Quiet week and resort fees that done make sense!! I just spent two nights at Harrahs AC. I have not been here in about 6 years and did notice a few changes. Some positive some not to much. The positive is there is quite a few new restaurants that were not there previously. We did show up right after Labor Day so the resort was quiet but I do not mind that. We checked in at 10am and we were able to get our room right away. Our room was at the waterfront(or view) tower and it was very nice and clean. The pillows are a little big and tough but the bed was comfortable. In all the room was great. When we went to the pool we were surprised to find out there was a fee to get in. I was a little shocked as I never encountered that. I was not too happy about it but whatever. The shocker to me is that I am paying a resort fee and would like to know what that fee includes. The casino is not part of a resort and the pool is so the fee of the pool was a little off for me. I also found out that the kids pool also has a fee. The pool is amazing but a fee for your guest is off and you should change that. Your security guards are also not great. They do not greet you and treat you like if this was a night club. Fix this and make it more pleasant. The staff at the pool that check you in are also a little dry and needs to get some attention. I also came to find out that they do not have food but you can order from the restaurants outside. That's ok but there are fees which is also a bit costly so just walk there and get it yourself. The drinks are good and strong. A little bit pricey but they don't shy from the pour. The pool also closes at 5pm everyday we got kicked out even though the sign outside said they close at 6pm. We were told the time change was after Labor Day. I think the pool should be open later during the winter months since we are paying a resort fee, an entrance fee and we can enjoy a great pool a little later in the day. closing it at 6pm during the summer months does not make sense since you can go to the beach. I feel like they concentrate this space more for the night club that what it is for their guests. They do have a giant screen with I enjoyed with the US open and thought that was pretty cool. The Jacuzzi is also very nice but they only have one running. The hotel was missing a bit of entertainment during the week and there was really not much going on. We went to the boardwalk and passed by the Harrah's it was pretty full with great energy and had live music which is everyday. Harrah's should make it worth the resort fee and make it more entertaining although this message will probably go no where but you can do your research and see what fits your budget better. By the way they used to have a reverse happy hour and that is also gone. bummer!!
