Best winter break vacation The people here work really hard to accommodate all kinds of people and groups. The best place for a family vacation! Don’t expect the nicest rooms in the world as you aren’t paying high end prices!

Predatory practices despite winter storm warning/state of emergency. Offered additional nights instead of a refund. Here is the email I sent to Pat and Jonathon about our short stay this weekend for a 8U hockey tournament. What was not mentioned in the email, and what I will add here, is the breakfast was lackluster at best. The rooms were dated and while we booked an extended suite, the bed did not seem like a king as advertised. The sledding hill was a lot of fun. I am sure the noise level was insane as we had a 8U hockey tournament going on. Good afternoon, I am writing to you to request a refund of one night stay as well as a portion of the rink maintenance fee as your resort neglected to postpone and reschedule this tournament despite multiple issues with hosting it this weekend. Firstly, there was a winter storm warning and a state of emergency declared in Virginia and Pennsylvania, where we were traveling from and traveling to. Rather than offer your guests the opportunity to check out early, you offered a discounted rate to stay an additional night. This feels extremely predatory masked in helpfulness. Had you not moved all of the hockey games to Saturday morning and early afternoon, I probably would not be writing this email to you. However, this morning the decision was made to move up every game and to conclude with the championship game at 1pm Saturday. Originally we were scheduled for a game Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and night, and TBD Sunday. I can only assume this decision was made to ensure families with young children traveling home would be off the roads before the driving conditions turned dangerous. While I understand that weather predictions can change suddenly, we were given ample notice that this storm was going to affect York, PA and the surrounding areas. Had you made this decision earlier, it would have provided families the opportunity to change their reservations and not be out $200+ dollars. My second issue is with your ice rink. I was told that there was an issue with the water line to lay water on the rink. This step is crucial to keep the ice clean and smooth, making for a fair and enjoyable skate. With that removed, your rink resembled the flight line at the base I was stationed at in Afghanistan - riddled with holes and trip hazards. While this issue would not be a big deal on it's own, when you couple it with your choice to not postpone the tournament due to the water line issue, the winter storm warning, your refusal to refund any unused portion of our stay, AND INSTEAD offering us the option to spend MORE MONEY like you're doing us a favor... Now I take offense. These children played in below zero weather because they love to play hockey. These parents drove to your resort because they want to support their children and they believe in the benefits of competitive sports in our youth. I understand you're a business that needs to make money, this is not the appropriate way to do that. Thank you for your time.
