My wife and I, along with another couple of friends, and their older sister. We had planned to celebrate New Year’s 2026 at the hotel. After arriving at our Airbnb around 6:30 PM, we mistakenly walked in the wrong direction instead of toward the hotel — and unfortunately, right into a terrible downpour that didn’t stop all night. We were caught in heavy rain for nearly an hour. One of our companions, Alix, who is 82 years old, was completely soaked. A kind local resident took pity on us and personally guided us in the correct direction. Still drenched — clothes and hair soaked — we finally reached the hotel lobby. The day before, Alix had stopped by the hotel to inquire about booking a New Year’s dinner table for six. She hadn’t formally booked it but had received a handwritten note with pricing and details. Thanks to that note and the incredible efforts of Cristina, along with the reception and sales managers, they worked tirelessly — with patience, kindness, and genuine care — to secure us a table at the very last minute. Although no decorations were left, their hospitality meant everything to us. The rain continued nonstop. After nearly two hours trying to find transportation (on New Year’s Eve and in a storm!), a taxi van finally arrived. The driver, Junior, went above and beyond — convincing his passengers to let him take us first to our Airbnb, wait while we changed into dry clothes, and then bring us back to the hotel for the celebration. His kindness was unforgettable. The dinner buffet was delicious, beautifully served, and the personal attention was outstanding. The orchestra, food, drinks — and especially the warm soup that felt like heaven after being soaked — were perfect. Cristina and the entire team were everywhere, making sure every guest felt cared for. You truly nailed it. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This experience will stay with us forever. Wonderful place to stay pre-cruise We stayed here for 2 nights prior to a cruise. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Geraldo in the bar was fantastic. I used the spa service and would recommend this. The staff was very friendly. The property is beautiful. The only reason we gave this 4 stars is because the location is limiting. We stayed on the property and the menu for dinner was limited. However, the breakfast was wonderful and the quality of the food was great. We’d definitely come back for a short stay.

Exceptional stay I’m giving you a 5, but only because that’s the highest the scale goes! Honestly, 5 feels too low for the excellent service, attention to detail, and comfort I experienced during my stay. I especially want to highlight Noemi at the front desk. Her service was absolutely outstanding and made my visit truly special. Thank you for everything!

Excellent Hotel, but Avoid Oscar We stayed two nights in La Romana prior to a cruise. We had read good things about this hotel and always try to stay at a Hilton as one of their very senior executives is a good friend of ours. In almost all respects the hotel did not disappoint. The room was immaculately clean and well stocked. Victor, the supervisor at the front desk was courteous, welcoming, and most helpful at check in. The bar and restaurant staff were excellent, especially the lady food and beverage manager. We had two very nice dinners and breakfast twice, each time assisted by the manager who guided us to some excellent choices. The food was not only well presented but appetizing and very well priced. The concierge, Damm, helped us with taxis and a golf cart ride to La Caleta beach and back. Last, but not least, there’s always one person who is the spoiler and ruins it for all his co-workers. On the second day of our stay we had the unfortunate experience of no hot water in the shower. I roughed it through a cool shower but my wife insisted on something a lot warmer. We called the front desk and nothing, nada. So I went down half an hour later and asked to talk to the duty manager. Another half hour later, I had the misfortune to speak to Oscar, the supervisor on duty. Long story short, Oscar was quite condescending and pretty much told me that we didn’t know how to work the shower at a ‘high class hotel’. I don’t think I have ever encountered a ruder and more ill mannered person in the hospitality business. I would encourage the establishment to send this gentleman for some serious re-training. If not for this unfortunate encounter, Hilton Garden Inn, La Romana would easily have earned 7 stars.
