Week with Family This was my first time staying at the HGI with my family, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I arranged airport-to-hotel transportation in advance, which made our arrival seamless. From the moment we reached the front desk, the level of attention and service from the staff stood out. The front desk agent, Kelvin, was extremely polite and clearly explained all the charges. Although we didn’t have much luggage, Dann (I believe that was his name) was quick to assist us with directions to the lobby and elevators. Every time we returned from a beach trip, he kindly asked if we needed water or had any questions about our stay. Housekeeping was exceptional. Martha, our attendant, was amazing. She organized my toiletries each day and did an outstanding job cleaning the room. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had a great night's sleep every night. The breakfast was beyond my expectations. My favorite server, Olga, was limited in English but was always available to refresh my coffee and ask if I needed anything more. The pool was warm and heavenly, but my favorite feature was the private beach, where I enjoyed swimming every morning. I can’t wait to return again and again!

Terrible Where do I start? On getting out of our transfer vehicle we were quickly met with someone to grab our luggage and load up the cart. Then we were all asked for a passports. We don’t know why they photocopy them and gave them back to us. Check-in was fairly easy. We had to wait a little bit, but that was OK. The room was nice. We had a really nice view of the water off. Our balcony beds were fairly comfortable room was clean. After we seen our room, we went to the only restaurant they had on sight. It wasn’t very busy. There was a table next to us with about four or five girls there and there was our table. It took us a little while to figure out what we wanted, but the way it came over finally and took our order. We just for a beer he didn’t ask what kind we wanted. We just got what we got which I guess was OK. After we ordered, we sat there for well over an hour before we got our food. When we got our food, it was all cold, especially my husband‘s he ordered the fish with the potatoes au gratin and the potatoes tasted like three day old mashed potatoes. They sprinkled some cheese on it put in the microwave for 10 seconds and took it out. My son ordered the spaghetti with red sauce he said it tasted like fish. And he will eat anything. I got fettuccine Alfredo and there was zero taste to it and the noodles were hard. My mom got a burger which looked like just a cheap frozen burger. Everything was cold not sure why he didn’t bring out our food when it was done cooking and just let it sit there for who knows how long. The table next to us with the girls finally got their food. One order was wrong and it was all cold and they sent it all back, and then when he returned the food all back to the kitchen, he came back and tried to build them for the food lol! While they weren’t having that! They didn’t eat anything and they refused to pay and he said OK. The check is zero. They came over and talked to us and said this is not Dominican food I had Dominican food. and this is not it. We are going to the grocery store and we’re going to buy things to make sandwiches because we will never eat here again! We ended up paying for our bill even though everything was terrible because we ate some of it because we were starving we did not eat all day we were traveling. We told the waiter of our dissatisfaction how everything was cold. It didn’t taste good all he said was thank you sir. And did not try to fix anything and he just did not care it was like a person who really hated their job. We definitely should not have paid for that food either. So we go to breakfast in the morning the buffet was pretty gross. Everything that should have been cold was not cold. It was barely cold and everything that should’ve been hot was cold. I took some scrambled eggs. It tasted like they put a bunch of oil and not very good butter in there. The only thing edible was a hard boiled eggs on there. The sausages weren’t even cooked all the way through I grabbed the yoghurt thinking that might be safe halfway through it. There’s a giant black spot in it same with my mother‘s yoghurt there was black spots in it! Even the coffee when you poured the milk in it it curdled. And the lady in charge of the restaurant area tried to show us three times how the milk was good and each time it curdled and then she said oh it’s normal for this country for the milk to curdle. Yeah right! The only thing at the right temperature was the beer at the bar. It was ice cold. The pool was really nice if you stay here make sure you bring your own food and bring water because there’s no free water either and there’s no filling stations. We walked back to our room and the maid was just finishing mopping the floor so we waited for the floor to dry and after walking around for about not even a minute all her feet were black so was a room really cleaned? I don’t think so. My son and I went again for dinner. We sat outside and she tried to get someone to serve us was crazy. We already knew what we wanted off the menu. We didn’t even need a menu. Tried to fly someone down they said oh we’ll be there in a minute flagged another person down. They didn’t come back flagged another person down and they finally came over and took our order then we waited and we waited and waited and we finally got our food. Then when it came time to pay for it, that was a whole nother waiting game and trying to flag someone down to get the bill . I would definitely never stay here again. I paid extra money to get the Hilton thinking that the food would be really good and the service would be really good, but I got the opposite paid a lot of money for really bad food and service. I would never stay here again!

Service needs improving ! Stayed here for 2 nights before we went to Punta Cana . Hotel is decent nice decor and clean rooms . We had a lovely balcony ocean view overlooking the pool . Service let this hotel down massively. Staff in restaurant were slow and there was a serious language barrier with quite a few staff members . Waiting over 1 hour for lunch by the pool isn’t acceptable . Running out of fries at 1pm is ridiculous. It’s not Hilton standards put it that way . The pool is very cold it’s not heated and there is no private beach . The gold cart will take you to Caleta beach 2 mins away if you are feeling adventurous but beware it’s a local beach so expect the unknown there’s a review by Garo which the hotel has chosen as best review of hotel - it’s extremely misleading and inaccurate . Positive is that security here is 5 stars the hotel is in a gated area with some large villas so you feel safe . We took an uber to Jumbo supermarket 10 mins away and it’s worth a visit . Fresh fruit bakery rotisserie and there’s papa johns and coffee shop . Hotel food was really poor standard and over priced . Breakfast was €80 approx for 2 adults - we didn’t pay as we are diamond members but I would have never paid that price for the spread they had out , it’s unacceptable really & cheeky .

Avoid if possible! Do not stay here unless you truly have no other option. Yes, the hotel itself is nice and the room was comfortable — but that is literally the only positive. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and once you arrive, they know you are stuck. The service was absolutely terrible, hands down the worst hotel service I have ever experienced. The staff was disengaged, unhelpful, and gave the clear impression that they simply did not care. The food situation was unacceptable. The quality was poor, and many basic items were constantly out of stock. To put it into perspective, they did not even have Presidente beer, which is a staple in the Dominican Republic. When a resort cannot provide something that basic, it says everything about their operations. Because there are no nearby alternatives for food or drinks, it truly felt like the hotel takes advantage of the fact that guests have no choice once they are there. Thankfully, we only needed to stay one night — I genuinely could not have tolerated another night at this property. This place may carry the Hilton name, but the experience falls far below anything you would ever expect from a Hilton hotel.
