Phoenix, Arizona: Bustling Metropolis and Native American Culture Surrounded by Desert

Though the topography of the Phoenix area is all desert, it's by no means desolate. Camelback Mountain is a city park area with scenic trails that wind past boulders and red-sandstone formations; climb to the very top for a view of the entire city. Or hit the themed trails at the Desert Botanical Garden filled with Southwestern flora such as huge sonoran cacti and other moisture-hoarding succulents. Either way, plan hikes in the early morning or twilight hours to catch the most stunning sunlit views and stay cool.

For an in-depth look at the cultures of Arizona’s indigenous population, browse the 12 exhibition galleries and sculpture garden at the Heard Museum. The collection’s nearly 40,000 pieces of art range from 500 Hopi katsina dolls to a full-size Pueblo oven. In nearby Scottsdale, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West was the renowned prairie-style architect’s winter home as well as a campus for his architecture school.

Not Hilton quality, just a run down “resort” It’s not worth going to at this time, maybe in the future after all the renovations are complete but at this point it isn’t Hilton quality. Room was dirty, carpets gross, air vents fuzzy and holes in walls just to talk about the room. Amenities were lacking or wildly over promised based on the pictures. No microwave, court yards bare, swim up bars closed, hot tub wells not working, multiple mini golf holes that use the same green, not enough different colored golf ball’s for a family of four, pools/lazy river so cold the kids only swam for 45 minutes total all weekend. When you did bring things up to the staff they were generally cold, unhelpful and indifferent. The only highlight on that front was the front desk manager refunding us the $35 per day resort fee, but a small price in the overall cost to stay. In general this place is run down and not what you would expect from a resort with the Hilton name. If you are a family and looking for a fun filled getaway where you can spend most of your time onsite… look elsewhere.

Hotel is in the Middle of Updates The hotel is in a transition period. Right now, rooms are outdated and not very well kept but you can see what the hotel will become when renovations are complete. The waterpark was a lot of fun!

Don't waster your money on this resort. Worse place to go. The best thing about the place was the janitorial and housekeeping staff. Not worth your money. The heated pools are not heated and when you ask about it the front desk argues it's us not the pool. Wanted conjoined rooms for my adult children and us we had one on the bottom floor and one on the 2nd story. When asked they said they are close. The elevator doesn't work. Had cold shower because it starts off warm then goes to cold quickly. Not worth your money. You can go to a better priced hotel then an overpriced so called resort
