Dog Friendly Fabulous Getaway Perfect family holiday getaway! We stayed in Mountainside, a cozy log cabin cottage for two people and two dogs. Walked a few leisurely steps to the main Lodge for gourmet meals next to the Cheoah River. Relaxed vibe and friendly atmosphere. Scenic views and well-maintained grounds. Minutes from the legendary Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway! We took a picnic lunch on the Skyway and took amazing photos of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Perfect way to unwind! This was our second time staying in Overlook 2 with friends in Overlook 1. Great time away to relax, unwind and enjoy the resort.

Great holiday/weekend getaway Absolutely beautiful facility and location, even in winter. Very quiet, relaxing and laid back. We've been stopping here for years as part of our rides on the Dragon, but have never over nighted here. Booked for Thanksgiving holiday and had an excellent time. Dining experiences and service were exemplary at all meals. Stayed in one of the rustic cabins, which was very clean, roomy and relaxing. Pricing could be considered a little high based on general location, but to us, worth it!

Disappointed, we won't return When I first saw the advertisement for the lodge I thought that would be a great place to take my wife for her birthday in November. I went to the web site and searched for a lodge room that would be perfect so I reserved the Sunflower through Expedia in August. We drove 7-1/2 hours to the lodge, went to check in and was told the room I reserved in August was not available. It appears someone at the lodge changed the reservation. I was never notified of the change. The only room available was the Laurel. We were offered a cabin but that was quite a walk from the lodge. The first night we had no heat in the room but were given extra blankets. The advertisement indicated that there was fine dinning in the restaurant only to find out that it was a pub not really a restaurant. We were referred to another lodge when asked about fine dinning, the nice dress my wife brought was never used. Overall we were very disappointed, Perhaps if management had shown concern about the reservation change and offered an apology or other compensation our stay may have been more pleasant.

Decent trip The area is beautiful and quiet. Food was good, especially breakfast. Cabin was cute, but the bathroom only had a saloon door so for 2 couples staying together it wasn’t great privacy. Also, we stayed in the cabins just up the hill from the main lodge, and although there is a small warning sign that the steps are uneven there is zero lighting for dark hours. Unfortunately, our friend fell on the stairs and hurt himself. So make sure you take a flashlight or phone. I am only writing this review in hopes that management sees and responds to it because we have sent 2 emails trying to warn about the step situation with no response. Just want everyone to stay safe!!
