Cape Cod, Massachusetts: Historic Towns and Miles of Protected Beaches

In the late 19th century, Cape Cod blossomed into a summer vacation destination as visitors swapped crowded coastal cities for the sandy shores of eastern Massachusetts. Today, the arm-shaped peninsula, located 60 miles south of Boston, encompasses 15 idyllic towns, rolling dunes, and 300 miles of sandy shoreline—and it’s still the place where many East Coasters choose to spend their leisurely summer days. Popular attractions include fresh-seafood restaurants, quaint stores, and bicycle trails, such as the 11-mile Shining Sea Bikeway that wends from North Falmouth to Woods Hole.

On the uppermost tip of the Cape, the free-spirited art colony of Provincetown attracts visitors year-round. This is one of the best places to head for a vibrant nightlife scene—there are cabarets, bars, and lounges aplenty. Pop into the Provincetown Art Association and Museum to check out local artwork, both historical and contemporary.

Would definitely stay here again. Clean rooms, nice breakfast, great staff and it had both indoor and outdoor pools. It was a 10 minute drive from a couple of Hyannis beaches. Close to shopping and to Main Street. Rooms were quiet. The room air conditioner worked well and he shower water pressure was fantastic and had plenty of hot water!

Disgusting rugs The hotel was a big disappointment on our trip. The carpet was the worst part. Our room 129 smelled extremely bad. I almost checked out the day we checked in because it smelled like a room filled with wet dirty socks. The rug is the worst rug I have ever seen. I would not stay here with kids because of the dirty rugs. Bathroom was okay. Pool water was too cold to enjoy. The one and only positive about this hotel was the nice and friendly staff.

Seen Better Days What a pit. We checked in and then checked out. Hotel is really old and rundown, needs a total revamp. Bad sign when they only have one luggage cart and it's rusty and stained. The room smelled, so we opened the window. OMG what a view. The linens were new and clean. Bathroom - not awful and looked like it had been renovated within the last 5 years. Only positive was Herman the front desk clerk who was friendly and professional.
