Midtown East Manhattan: Iconic Sights and Shops Along Fifth Avenue

Midtown East refers to a 17-block stretch of central Manhattan between Fifth Avenue and the East River. The area is known for some of New York’s most famous landmarks, including Rockefeller Center, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and Grand Central Terminal (one of the world’s most-visited tourist attractions). Though in recent years Grand Central has filled with upscale restaurants and shops, it still serves as a major transportation hub with subway lines, Metro trains, and ziplines heading all over the city.

A stroll down Fifth Avenue is a world-renowned shopping experience: the street is filled with luxury boutiques and flagship department stores, including the original Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. For a little tranquility in the middle of the city, follow Fifth up to the southeast corner of Central Park. Just a few feet off the street is the Pond, which is spanned by a stone bridge. A little farther north, you’ll find the heart of Central Park Zoo.

Maybe I'm picky but I didn't like how you had to use your key for to get on your floor. customer service was okay one of the ladies was nice. if you just looking for somewhere to stay it's okay. they had a big large tub but they remove the stopper to where you can actually take a nice deep bath so you have to take a shower. The door man was very nice & very helpful. Sorry I forgotten to tip him.

Tired, dated, unclean hotel - nothing like the pictures I found this hotel very disappointing for the price of the room. Whilst staff are generally friendly, I wouldn’t particularly call the service memorable or standout - just average. The lift is very temperamental and dirty - I don’t think it’s maintained or cleaned at all. The room itself is incredibly dated and tired, everything was scruffy, marked and generally looked unclean. Nothing at all like the pictures! The amenities are incredibly limited - you don’t even get a small fridge. There is no hair conditioner, but two lots of body lotion? I found it odd that mounted on the wall next to the sink is body lotion and not hand wash. No hand wash is provided at all, so I had to use the bar of soap. This is fine but they don’t provide a dish or tray for the soap, so it just creates more mess leaving it sticking to the sink. The coffee machine is okay to use but a bit of a faff because you can’t fill it directly under the tap. The coffee and creamer provided is low quality. The standard of cleaning in this hotel leaves a LOT to be desired. The rooms aren’t properly cleaned, things are dusty and lots of stray hair left in the bathroom and around the room. They do change the towels everyday if you leave them on the floor as requested, but nothing else is tidied or wiped down. I had made a coffee one day and a bit of sugar from the packet was on the side - this wasn’t cleaned up for a few days for example. I also had an issue with my key card which left me frustrated, there were 4 separate occasions the card worked in the lift but wouldn’t open the door to the room. Both times I got the card “fixed” at reception, I had to come back down again as it didn’t work the first time. It’s just annoying when you want to go to the room and relax, but not a major issue. I think you would be better staying a little bit further out - like in the upper east side. The only pro of staying here is the location, but I just think it’s an absolute rip off considering the rooms are no better than a hotel star motel.

Outdated and Uncomfortable I stayed here five nights for business. The hotel is in a nice central location so if that’s what you’re going for, it’s a good choice. The staff were so pleasant but this hotel is so outdated. The beds were uncomfortable and the room just wasn’t the cleanest. Very dusty. Also, the air conditioner was so loud that I really didn’t get much rest. Wouldn’t book again.

Wonderful Experience! My friend and I recently stayed at Hotel 57 in NYC. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable! The staff was genuinely interested in making our stay a pleasant one. We are both looking forward to a return visit soon!
