Boston's Kenmore Square: Fenway Park and Cultural Institutions

Kenmore Square—sometimes called Fenway–Kenmore or simply Kenmore—is a vibrant neighborhood about 3 miles north of downtown Boston. It's home to one of the city's most iconic sites: Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Another Boston landmark, Back Bay Fens, is just across the street. The large public green space, designed in the 1870s by legendary landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, contains numerous gardens and water features connected by meandering paths.

Many cultural institutions make their home in Kenmore Square as well, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston University, and the Museum of Fine Arts. With nearly 450,000 works, including several photography collections, it's one of the most comprehensive art museums in the world. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to check out in the area, too, especially on the BU campus, which is centered on the neighborhood's namesake square.

Relaxing get-away in historic Boston, MA Our three night stay was what we had hoped for. Our upgrade to a small suite gave us more space to sit and read while keeping an eye on the activities on Commonwealth Avenue. Getting around town was easy. The green metro stop was next door and many of our adventures were within walking distance. Can't wait to go back.

Decent hotel but spam emails and billing left a bitter taste A decent hotel, but they ended up wasting a lot of my time. The location is pretty good, very walkable to Newbury St and Prudential Center. My room was also good sized and comfortable. My negative experience has to do with billing and emails. Leading up to my reservation, the hotel kept sending me emails to upgrade. I've never experienced something like this for a "luxury" hotel. The number of emails was approaching spam level. Then, after the stay, my bill was a mess. My reservation included some perks from my credit card. I confirmed these perks upon check-in. I then asked about billing upon check-out. The person at check-out was completely clueless about the charges and gave me the wrong information regarding what would actually be charged to me. Now I'm stuck wasting time to get the final bill corrected. A decent hotel should not make the experience so annoying.

Nick at Hotel Commonwealth Great Hotel! Even better service! We were treated like family the minute we walked through the door by Nick at the front desk! We were even able to say goodbye to Nick during check out which topped off our trip. He is an asset to this hotel and made our experience complete. BRAVO Nick! Don’t ever change!
