Houston, Texas: Space History and Museums in Nation’s Fourth-Largest City

As the nation’s fourth-largest city by population, Houston has established itself as one of the Gulf Coast’s most thriving cultural hubs. The city’s museum district has 19 museums covering everything from history to art to science. For art lovers, the Menil Collection—which Frommer’s calls “one of the great private collections of the world”—is a must-see. Here, you’ll browse an array of 20th-century art from Jasper Johns, René Magritte, and Andy Warhol, as well as artifacts from Africa and the Pacific Islands.

You could also spend an entire day exploring Houston’s science institutions. When Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell famously stated, “Houston, we have a problem,” he was talking to mission control at Space Center Houston. Here, visitors can tour the historic mission-control room and get a behind-the-scenes look at astronauts training for the International Space Station. Along Houston’s Hermann Park, The Health Museum exhibits a large-scale human body that you can enter to learn about how your organs operate.

This hotel is nothing like it use to be. It is not upscale anymore just upscaled priced. Room was old and ghetto. They charged me $8 for water at the mini bar. Which is the only well kept thing about the hotel.

Took a while to write a review without venom. This hotel was not as advertised. The lobby gave an elegant appearance but it stopped there. I felt very uncomfortable on the elevator and walk to the room. But I wanted to follow through. The room was as underwhelming as the rest of the establishment. I immediately left. Never received a refund or credit. I was ripped off-by far the worst Groupon ever

A wannabe boutique hotel with awful beds and pillows. Best thing about our stay was checkout.

It was horrible .. the night stand was broken… the lady at the front desk was so busy flirting and trying to entertain any man that walked past that I stood there waiting at the desk to finish her conversation just to check in my room, I even called the front desk from my phone in front of her just to see if she would stop her conversation to answer she looked at it and kept talking to flirt.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was ok. It needs a deep cleaning. The bed was frumpy and uncomfortable. The food and cocktails were great. The pool was nice. There appears to be a prostitution thing going on out of this place. Very unusual erotically dressed young women hanging out at valet and cars pulling up with very dark windows and these women getting in and driving away.
