Disappointing considering $430/night I was so looking forward to a nice + relaxing stay here after a long day of travel. I figured that paying $430/night all-in including taxes/fees (for a normal room) meant it would be a pretty decent hotel. Unfortunately when we arrived at 3p, they told us our child could not go in the pool (kid hours are only 9a-1p, a detail that was not advertised to us and I later learned is only found if you're searching very carefully through the website). The pool is obviously one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. We were clearly disappointed, but the check-in guy made no effort to smooth things over, such as offering us drinks or anything. Second, the thermostat in the room was one of the worst I've experienced -- alternating between blasting hot air, then cold air, hot air, then cold air. I had them send an engineer to fix the problem, and the engineer apparently visited the room, but it was not fixed and no one followed up with me. I didn't sleep well because of all the temperature changes at night. The bed & sheets felt cheap. Otherwise, the location is good, literally on the same corner as the L stop. The lobby is nice. I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I'm sorry, this was a disappointing experience considering the amount we paid. This is a budget hotel that has nice photos.

Williamsburg, Brooklyn: Ultratrendy Neighborhood Across the East River from Manhattan

In a game of word association, “Williamsburg” is likely to elicit a common response: “hipster.” The popular neighborhood, located opposite Manhattan’s Lower East Side, has become synonymous with young people and bohemian living. This relationship dates as far back as the 1980s, when the first artists and musicians began crossing the East River in search of cheaper rents. In recent years, Williamsburg has gentrified bigtime. And though many artists have now been priced out of the neighborhood, they’ve left behind a constellation of galleries, music venues, dive bars, and some of New York’s best restaurants.

Though the ultra trendy Williamsburg can feel like it’s a world away from Manhattan, in reality it’s quite close. Three subway lines, the Williamsburg Bridge, and even a water taxi provide easy access to the next borough over. For visual confirmation of Manhattan’s proximity, visit East River State Park, a 7-acre green space with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline. Afterward, consider swinging by one of the many restaurants on Grand Street.

Williamsburg has better places to stay I’m not real particular about hotels as long as I have a clean, comfortable room to stay in. The location was great. Walls are thin and you can hear people in the rooms next to you so bring head phones. Accessing the pool and getting service was difficult. It’s on the 4th floor but you need to take a different elevator, not the ones used to get to your rooms. The elevator then opens up directly to the restaurant/bar area. You must walk thru this part to get to the pool. There is no other way to get to the pool. Also make sure to ask for towels as they are not set out. You’re also told you can’t walk thru the restaurant/bar if you are wet. This was our experience after arrival on our first day. We decided to get a drink before dinner at the poolside restaurant. We were seated outside and after 10 minutes, nobody ever came to take our order. One of us went into the bar to order the drinks. It then started to rain outside so we went inside. After another 10 minutes, we kept looking over at the bar and it didn’t look like anyone was working on our drink orders. (There were only 5 customers in the whole place) Finally walked up to the bar and asked again about our drink orders and saw the bartender hurriedly start to make it. This was when we just said to cancel it and left.

Disappointing We booked and paid via Booking.com. On checking in the front desk took $200 per night or $600 in total off our card by way of a deposit for extras. More than 3 weeks later we are still awaiting return of our deposit even though we had no extras on our bill. By contrast the security deposit we paid Hotel 42 4 days later using the same card was returned within 3 days. Why are you so slow returning our deposit? The view from the balcony was not great. A storage lot for hotel paraphernalia.

Disgusting If I could give 0 stars, I would. This was hands down one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We stayed here for one night and it was an absolute nightmare. We found a bug on our headboard, another bug on the corner seam of the bed, and to top it all off, there was a visible bloodstain on the headboard. Yes—BLOOD. I have photos of all three, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. When we informed the front desk in the morning, they brought out a manager—Chandler—who offered no urgency, and definitely no real resolution as if this wasn’t a big deal. His idea of “making it right”? Offering us $10 water bottles. That’s it. No refund. No room credit, just overpriced water and a complete lack of accountability. Since then, I’ve tried reaching out to hotel management multiple times for a proper follow-up or explanation and have been completely ignored. No call, no email, no acknowledgment whatsoever. Clearly, guest health and satisfaction are not a priority at this place. DO NOT stay here. If you care at all about cleanliness, professionalism, or basic decency—go elsewhere. This hotel is not only disgusting but also dismissive and negligent when serious concerns are raised. Absolutely unacceptable. Avoid at all costs. ** UPDATE: ONE whole week later a manager FINALLY calls me back after countless emails and messages still not true resolution. I had request one of my calls with someone at the front desk a copy of the pest report since they had someone come inspect the room. I have not received a copy of that and it does not seem like I’ll be getting one. They told me the pest control did not find the bugs I had mentioned. Yes, I killed them and flushed them after taking the photos. Still not accountability.

Late check out Do not expect to get a late checkout at this hotel. They did not ask me my room number or my status with IHG. The answer was just NO. SORRY. Since I have to write 200 characters to post this review i will ramble on about nothing to enable this post??
