Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco: Fresh Seafood and Family-Friendly Fun

Once ground zero for San Francisco's fishing industry, Fisherman's Wharf has blossomed into one of the city's top tourism destinations. Things to do in the waterfront neighborhood range from boutique shopping and gourmet dining at Ghirardelli Square to family-friendly museums, street performances, and seafood restaurants on Pier 39. You can watch a colony of sea lions lounging by the bay, or play vintage pinball machines and penny arcade games at the Musée Mécanique.

Though only a few dozen fishing boats dock here nowadays, there are still plenty of places to sample the wharf's famous dungeness crab. To learn more about the area's history, head to the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, where you can see old schooners, tugboats, and other nautical artifacts. Ferries make it easy to get to other nearby attractions, including the infamous Alcatraz Island prison.

Good pit stop hotel in good location We stayed here on our road trip for three nights. It is in fisherman’s wharf, and having seen other areas we felt this was a good central choice. Places you could easily walk to for meals and catch the big bus tour ( which is around corner). There is a restaurant called the socialite which is downstairs on zephyr walk. We did eat there one night , but it wasn’t the best. We were just too tired to go elsewhere. There is a Starbucks nearby too, so we tended to get our breakfast there, and Boudins is very close which is amazing for bread goods/ coffees. Rooms comfortable and clean, if small. We had a room with two queen beds for a family of four. It was fine given it was a place to put our heads down. It has a very funky games area which our teenage girls enjoyed in the evening after dinner. A good hotel for a pit stop. I will say I felt three nights in San Francisco was enough.

Horrible service Games don't work properly! I went to SF for work for 4 days and brought my Dad & kids. I chose Hotel Zephyr because of it’s location and it’s kid-friendly appeal. The photos are fantastic! When we got to the room (4053) we noticed the shade had fallen and I took a picture and went to the receptionist right away so that it could be fixed, replaced, and recorded. The maintenance man came looked at it briefly and said he would be back tomorrow to fix it, he pulled the black out shade down and told me not to touch it to avoid any other problems. Ok no problem. He never returned to room. We had a view of the Ferris wheel and Alcatraz and we couldn't even see it. When I was checking out and was telling the receptionist about my frustration she was rude and told me I had no view of anything from that room and I told her I did from the picture I took of when everything happened. Then her tone changed and said the best she could do was waive the resort fee. WHICH SHE DID NOT. I frequent to SF every month for work and I have never had such horrible service as well as false advertising. The games aren't kept up, and don't work correctly, the screens where movies or games are supposed to be were just stuck on a screensaver mode. I am being kind with this review but to say I am highly upset is an understatement. Its too bad because this place can be amazing.

Dirty and unkept This hotel needs another update since 2015! I had to change rooms due to the mold and dirtiness. I was switched to a semi better room with a running toilet and large pieces of hair in my bed! I will never stay here again! The customer service wasn't bad, except for the two ladies at the counter.
