Waikiki, Honolulu: White-Sand Beaches, World-Class Surfing, and Luxury Entertainment

When they're not surfing or sunbathing on Waikiki's beach, most travelers explore the area's busy avenues lined with everything from upscale boutiques and nightclubs to craft booths and street performers. Other attractions include the Honolulu Zoo, which houses exotic and endangered species such as Sumatran tigers and white-handed gibbons, and the Waikiki Aquarium, where more than 3,500 creatures of the Pacific glide throughout glassed-in galleries.

Also nearby is one of Hawaii's most recognizable natural landmarks, Diamond Head State Monument—a 300,000-year-old saucer formed by a single eruption. Hikers can walk along a trail where molten lava once smoldered to ascend to the crater’s 560-foot-tall lip.

Pool was not working/ Valet was full The pool was not working and this was news to us upon arrival. The valet parking was full so we had to spend a lot of time looking for parking and ended up just using the nearby Zoo parking lot. Not something we wanted to deal with after traveling 20+ hours with a family. The overall staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. The hotel was not the typical Hyatt you would expect on the mainland in the US. The room was a bit small but, clean. The location is close to the beach ~2 blocks away. They offer beach towels and chairs that are easy enough to carry. Probably would not stay there again with so many options nearby with similar proximity to the beach and a real nice pool area. Hotel did offer us a different place if we wanted to use their pool. We didn't spend too much time in the hotel anyway except for early AM breakfast so its hard to say it was bad when you are out and about most of the day enjoying everything Hawaii has to offer! The pool would have been nice for a late night swim/use. We did get to Valet at the hotel towards the end of the stay.

Just dreadful, don’t waste your money This is the worst “luxury” hotel we have ever stayed in! Where can I begin? We booked 3 nights with breakfast and a sea view, to celebrate with friends following the “cruise of a lifetime” to celebrate our 50 years of friendship. We believed it was supposed to be a 4- 5* hotel. We wanted a luxury hotel close to Waikiki beach and with a sea view, which we had to pay extra for. The hotel was not in any way luxurious. The corridors smelt stale and dirty and the swimming pool was not working. As soon as we arrived, we were presented with an extra bill of $45/day tax which we knew nothing about at the time of booking and paying in advance for our reservation. The room was OK, but basic with no luxuries such s slippers or dressing gowns! The sea view was in fact the view of a high rise building with a small glimpse of the beach either side! The cupboard was small with just a few hangers and difficult to open and close with cheap sliding doors which always got jammed when trying to open or close. The lift was slow and you could end up waiting 10 minutes when busy (we were on the 10th floor). Breakfast was a total insult! It was located on the 3rd floor on a small open air terrace totally overlooked on all sides. It was plagued with birds and pidgeons which swooped down on the tables and pooping overhead while we ate! A definite health hazard. The food was just dreadful - very limited choice, and no fresh fruit, just tinned pineapple. The bread was stale and the coffee was bitter and undrinkable. Egg choice was hard boiled or scrambled, which was rubbery and cold. Cereal choice was 3 types of cheap brightly coloured fruit loops. The guests were of poor quality , many turning up to grab one of the few available tables in their pyjamas!. The swimming pool was not in use and was small, totally overlooked and in the shade with a dirty paint peeling surround and no chairs. This is DEFINATELY NOT A 4.5 - 5* hotel. They offered beach chairs to take to the beach but they were dirty, stained and heavy, with no cases to carry them in to the beach, making it a useless exercise. This was a horrible experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s only plus point is its proximity to the beach. Service was non existent!

Construction Zone The pool was not open, there was constant construction, hammering, drilling, and noise the entire stay. The food at the free breakfast was mediocre at best. I was promised a mountain view only to be staring at the back of other hotel buildings. When the staff attempted to move me to a room where i would have a mountain view, I got more buildings and a sliver of a peek at part of a mountain. False advertising. Not what I expected from Hyatt. Very disappointed!
