Waikiki, Honolulu: White-Sand Beaches, World-Class Surfing, and Luxury Entertainment

When they're not surfing or sunbathing on Waikiki's beach, most travelers explore the area's busy avenues lined with everything from upscale boutiques and nightclubs to craft booths and street performers. Other attractions include the Honolulu Zoo, which houses exotic and endangered species such as Sumatran tigers and white-handed gibbons, and the Waikiki Aquarium, where more than 3,500 creatures of the Pacific glide throughout glassed-in galleries.

Also nearby is one of Hawaii's most recognizable natural landmarks, Diamond Head State Monument—a 300,000-year-old saucer formed by a single eruption. Hikers can walk along a trail where molten lava once smoldered to ascend to the crater’s 560-foot-tall lip.

Good hotel We stayed at the Hyatt Place for 6 nights. Nice hotel in a great location. It is a short walk to the beach . The rooms was very clean, we opted for the larger room and I'm glad we did. The breakfast is very basic we only ate there 2 days. Toast, cereal , eggs and some kind of meat, pineapples and oatmeal were the main items. You eat outside which was not bad but several of the large umbrellas used to shade were broken. Pool has been out of commission for awhile , that did not bother us since we were not going to use the pool. The staff were all super nice and helpful. You are able to get chairs to use at the beach. they are the bag chairs like you would take to a soccer game but they are free to use. Also you can borrow a grey beach towel so you don't have to pack that. The elevators were a problem in the mornings but we were on the 5th floor so we used the stairs a lot. It's not the Ritz Carlton but it was a good , clean hotel in a great location. I would stay here again

Best Hyatt Place I’ve visited with family Everyone was so welcoming and helpful! My favorite Hyatt Place we’ve stayed at! We were able to borrow things to enjoy our vacation - chairs, towels and boogie boards. The beach was an easy walk away. And we went down 3 mornings and they changed up breakfast each day. Usually it’s the same stuff but I was surprised it was different and rotated out the main hot dish. It wasn’t anything amazing, but it was decent, filling, and a good start to our day.

Just ok This is a good value hotel if you keep your expectations reasonable. We stayed in a double queen standard room with our 2 kids and the room was fine, but did need a refresh of the carpets (smelled a little), the A/C was very dusty (triggered everybody's allergies), and the furnishings/fixtures were worn around the edges. But the beds were very comfortable and clean, blankets were suitable, linens soft, and up to Hyatt's standards for sure. The A/C is a split air and a bit noisy (like a soft white noise) so be aware of that, but we slept fine. The pool area is currently closed, but you get a heads up at check in that you can go down the block to Queen Kapiolani and use their pool, which is a tad nicer, and Hyatt will give you the towels. Service was up to Hyatt's standards, housekeeping did a fine job, the servicemen who had to come up to set up the sofa bed arrived promptly, and the staff were overall friendly. Though, the receptionist who checked us in did not crack one smile but it was ok because he put us in a supposedly bigger than standard room. Ok the thing about breakfast. It's free and had very good options for a free breakfast but the pigeons were a real nuisance. It's an outdoor eating area and they tended to attack women with small children and the elderly. So you really had to establish your alpha by swatting them away aggressively after you sit or else they swarm you and steal all your food. I did see some people take their breakfast plates to their room, so you can avoid the pigeons that way. It's unlikely I would stay at this Hyatt again, but I love the Hyatt brand so I'll continue to stay at their other properties.
