Buffalo, New York: Chicken-Wing Capital with Rich Railroad History

Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York, but it’s second to none when it comes to its namesake buffalo wings. Though the pioneering restaurant’s identity is subject to debate, there’s no doubt about Buffalo’s status as the capital of wingdom. To sample the city’s most famous export, head to the Anchor Bar or Duff’s Famous Wings.

Buffalo was once one of the biggest railroad hubs in the country and has several museums dedicated to celebrating those glory days. Visit the Iron Island Museum to get a feel for how the railroad shaped the city. History buffs will also want to check out the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, also known as the Buffalo History Museum. Housed in a neoclassical building along Scajaquada Creek, it has exhibits on the War of 1812, the Erie Canal, and the Pan-American Exposition held on the museum grounds in 1901.

Great front desk staff The front lobby staff was very welcoming and very friendly. I really appreciated their kindness and enthusiasm . As I have seen in other reviews, our room was quite run down and in need of a refurbishment. I understand that this is in the works, but it still was disappointing . I would also suggest if you are attending an event and would like to eat at the hotel that you make reservations at either of the restaurants well in advance or at another restaurant. We unfortunately were unable to eat at either restaurant. Just an FYI, not so much of a failure of the hotel as our failure to plan properly .

Great stay I recently stayed at the Hyatt downtown Buffalo. I saw mixed reviews before my stay...all I can say is ignore it. The staff was incredible and helpful from the moment of my arrival. Yes it may need a little updating in the rooms, but the room was great for being in a historical building in Buffalo. I had wonderful city view from my room and I enjoyed seeing all the old beautiful architecture of Buffalo. The bathroom was very clean .. the food was excellent . I was there for a conference and I felt so welcomed with such great surrounding, I never felt the need to explore outside of the hotel during my stay. Thank Hyatt Regency of Downtown Buffalo.

Horrible Hotel was 2 hrs after check in for us to get our room, gave us non adjoining requested room (not guaranteed) dod not get a king but 2 doubles. Manager was not very helpful at all. Changed room next day took 12 hours for room to get cleaned to move in and they locked me out the next day when I had another night. No blankets or sheets just a duvet cover. DO NOT RECOMMEND beat thing about this stay was Kevin the one who checked us in and tried his hardest for the 3 nights there.
