Buffalo, New York: Chicken-Wing Capital with Rich Railroad History

Buffalo is the second-largest city in New York, but it’s second to none when it comes to its namesake buffalo wings. Though the pioneering restaurant’s identity is subject to debate, there’s no doubt about Buffalo’s status as the capital of wingdom. To sample the city’s most famous export, head to the Anchor Bar or Duff’s Famous Wings.

Buffalo was once one of the biggest railroad hubs in the country and has several museums dedicated to celebrating those glory days. Visit the Iron Island Museum to get a feel for how the railroad shaped the city. History buffs will also want to check out the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, also known as the Buffalo History Museum. Housed in a neoclassical building along Scajaquada Creek, it has exhibits on the War of 1812, the Erie Canal, and the Pan-American Exposition held on the museum grounds in 1901.

Definitely NOT a Typical Hyatt - Overpriced for Value This is NOT a typical Hyatt property! As a Hyatt member, I have stayed at other Hyatt properties. This is definitely not what we've experienced in the past. The rooms were extremely dated. Wallpaper was peeling. Stains on carpet. The furnishings were old and chipped on the edges. Room was dark. One lamp was not even working. We had no hot water in the morning. We called the front desk, and they were to send someone. No one came. After running the water for about a 1/2 hour, we got hot water. In the shower, the water was then either scalding hot or ice cold. Not much in between. The walls in the bathroom were dirty. Looked like splattered with toothpaste or something else. Edges of the shower had lots of grime and mildew. Not something that could be cleaned. Even the pad of paper in the room had sticky goop all over the back of it. No in room safe. Definite lack of security at the hotel too. Apparently, this hotel is a franchise. I didn't know Hyatt operated this way. Now, I know and will think twice before booking. Looking at reviews are a must! The hotel is also extremely overpriced. IMO, this was the equivalent of staying at a roadside motel. Staff was friendly. I feel bad for them as apparently; they often hear complaints.

I thought Hyatt Regency was a premium brand When I was a younger businessman, I though of Hyatt Regency as a premium hotel brand. Apparently those days are gone. This hotel is so tired. Ice machines broken with clearly no intent to fix. Major stains on carpet. Wallpaper peeling. Yikes. To their credit, somehow the staff is pleasant, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was great.

Average Rooms are dated and well used. The bedside lamp's switch was broken. The outlets for charging were loose it was difficult maintain charging. The carpet and room fixtures are quite dated. The bath vanity has scuffs and scratches- well used. Staff was friendly and helpful.
