Pigeon Forge, Tennessee: Family-Friendly Attractions in the Great Smoky Mountains

Though it’s secluded in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge is home to some quirky destinations, including Dollywood, a Titanic museum that looks just like the famed ocean liner from the outside, and an interactive children’s museum housed in an upside-down three-story building. In Pigeon Forge’s historical town center, a cluster of old-fashioned specialty shops and restaurants forms the Old Mill Square along the Little Pigeon River. Inside the mill, a pair of 4,600-pound granite stones has been grinding grain since the early 1800s.

Seriously Dated Although the outside has a neat and fresh appearance the rooms are quite dated. The carpet felt gross, the ceiling tiles showed signs of leaks, one bed sweaked so loud every time our child turned at night it woke someone up, and the pool was murky. I will not stay here again. I gave 2 stars as the staff was kind.

Family Vacation Island Drive Lodge is a no frill hotel but the location is perfect for Pigeon Forge. Right across from the entrance to The Island and walking distance to other attractions and restaurants. It was clean and affordable. The employees were nice and helpful. The downfalls to this location were the bed was not very comfortable. I will bring my own pillow next time.

Family Vacay Guy who checked us in wasn't nice or accommodating. He made things difficult (even with proper identification). Other staff we dealt with was nice. Room was descent, beds slept good, bathroom could use paint & updating (alot of rust everywhere & floor wasn't very clean). Fridge was not very cold. However, location is great & you can walk to The Island & some restaurants.
