Monticello, New York: One of the largest villages in the county

Those who are already fed up with the hustle and bustle of major cities may take a deep breath and truly unwind in Monticello, New York. However, there's plenty of attractions here, too. One of the most notable landmarks is the village's Monticello Raceway that attracts visitors from various parts of the country. Now the raceway has turned into a racino which hosts both electronic slot machines and horse racing. What's more, the neighboring area features Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. It's also fine if guests start missing more noisy places as New York is just about 100 miles away.

Not what it used to be! We have frequented Kartrite since they opened in 2019. Unfortunately, our last visit (June 2025), may have been our last. I'm actually in disbelief, because The Kartrite has always been our familys favorite quick getaway destination. However, this time was much different and not to the standards that we've experienced in the past. Room Experience: reserved large 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom -kitchen requires a full-size garbage can for a room that can accommodate 12. -shower dispensers were empty(shampoo/conditioner/body wash) -a/c was running warm -FIREPLACE not working, lost the ambiance (wasn't looking for heat) someone came to check and said someone else would come...no one ever showed for both fireplace or AC. -balcony door was left open upon arrival, I have toddlers, not safe. Also the lock is very difficult to close, possibly why it was left unlocked. - should have soap dispenser/mini sponge in kitchen area for what you pay for the room. -washcloth under bed from previous guest, disgusting, one of the kids noticed when playing on floor as children do. -ripped towel in bathroom -poop on underside of toilet bowl seat -mold on shower curtain -grout needs a good cleaning Food: breakfast place/coffee shop screwed up every sandwich. Waterpark -some areas are slippery, toddler kept falling -showers need a major cleaning, power washing top to bottom. Shouldn't even have to mention, no excuse, everything is tiled...spray, scrub, rinse down the floor drain. Should be as new! -my son was injured on slide, there was zero medical attention offered when brought to staffs attention. I was handed a zip lock with ice, when requesting ice pack. Only after it broke and I requested another ice pack from a different employee was i provided an actual medical ice pack you squeeze. However, I was told there was an urgent care a few miles away when asking if there was a medical office on property. I would assume they'd offer to call an ambulance before providing the location of the nearest urgent care, NOPE, that was not the case at all. Very disheartening, thank God my sons injury wasn't worse. We did visit our local urgent care as we cut our visit short and departed. ICING ON THE CAKE - this was a birthday celebration for my son. Added a birthday package to our stay, which included a gift bag full of goodies in your room and a sign on your room upon arrival. Long story short, wasn't done, shortly after arriving we heard a knock and a staff member brought the gift bag up and placed birthday sign on door.

Good! The Waterpark is small. Is great for kids. Almost there is no attractions for adults only 6 slides and 2 were closed. Food is ok, but pricy. I gave it 5 starts because the hotel is well maintained, the water pool is salty not bleach. No strong smell. Kids will love it!
