San Antonio, TX: Where History Marches with the Present

San Antonio stands as a living chronicle of American heritage—a city where centuries-old missions whisper stories of colonial ambition, and cobblestone pathways along the River Walk reflect a legacy shaped by Spanish, Mexican, and Texan influences. Home to The Alamo, the iconic site of the 1836 battle for Texan independence, San Antonio proudly bears the weight of its past with dignity and reverence. Its historic downtown is anchored by time-honored architecture, tree-lined plazas, and a cultural tapestry as rich and diverse as the people who shaped it.

Yet San Antonio is no relic. It pulses with modern energy, offering visitors a unique blend of heritage and innovation. From the thriving arts scene in Southtown and the Pearl District’s culinary renaissance to festivals like Fiesta and the cutting-edge installations at the San Antonio Museum of Art, the city continuously redefines what it means to be timeless. Whether you’re savoring Tex-Mex beneath wrought-iron balconies or gazing from a rooftop bar at sunset over the Missions, San Antonio extends more than a welcome—it offers a passage through time.

Physically a great hotel, but back-end service is lacking Not a bad stay per se, just had a billing issue that couldn't be resolved. Check-in was fine, no upgrade despite booking through Chase The Edit but they proactively offered 4PM check-out which I did not need. Hotel itself is gorgeous and the food and beverage outlets were very good (fantastic bartenders), although breakfast was fairly average (nothing really blew me away in terms of selection and taste). Room itself is your standard Kimpton room, high end but not over the top. Nice welcome amenity of water and the most amazing chips and salsa I've had. Destination fee was actually beneficial if you plan to use the on-site amenities. Rooftop Pool was pretty decent (can get very busy and it's not the largest) and the gym was very good. Ultimately the main issue that left a bad taste for me was the billing. I had prepaid for the stay through Chase The Edit booking site and it seemed like the entire prepaid amount did not transfer over and I was double charged on the destination fee and taxes. Luckily I had asked to see a printed out copy at check-in because they also did not apply my F&B credits properly and I had to remind them I had them. I thought it was squared away but after looking at the emailed copy, I saw it was still not correct. I tried emailing the "info" email from their website multiple times but it kept on getting kicked back as "undeliverable". When I called the hotel, no one seemed to want to answer the phone and leaving a message/voicemail did not lead to a callback. I was finally able to reach someone at the front desk but they stated that what they were seeing on the bill was "correct" when it was not....they transferred me to the accounting department but no one answered and the voicemail box was full....eventually I just gave up...ultimately this is what left a bad taste for me.

Nice hotel but not a pleasant stay. Nice hotel but definitely a letdown! Parking is outrageous at over $50 a night. They also charge you a resort fee but also sell day pass for the pool to the general public. As a guest that was looking forward to a nice day at the pool there was no room left because of all the people they sell passes to. Also we tried to have breakfast at the restaurant but they only had one server. After waiting over 20 mins I looked inside the restaurant and they only had three tables seated and weren’t letting anyone else in. Overall I wouldn’t recommend.

Business trip, fabulous stay This was honestly one of the nicest hotel I have visited. From the moment you walk in through the doors and are checked in with the fabulous crew, everything was top service. We went up to the rooftop for drinks and Estephan made a fabulous cocktail and West helped make sure we had a great table. The staff is top notch here truly, won’t stay anywhere else!

Highly Recommend! Kimpton was an amazing hotel! Starting with Dj with the valet, he took care of us promptly and kept taking care of us all night as we needed! Then Pete the Bellman, helped with unloading our vehicle so quickly and carefully and took everything up to the room for us with ease and then continuing to take care of us all night, including some of the best conversations we’ve had! Then moving into the receptionist whether it was Moore, Zoey or Richard they all provided exceptional service! Ensuring we knew exactly what we were getting into and there being zero surprises! We would highly recommend Kimpton, if you are looking for a professional atmosphere that is both pet and family friendly!
