Resort at a Glance: Krystal Cancún Hotel

The 4-star Krystal Cancún Hotel sits on a barrier island just off the Yucatán Peninsula, sandwiched between the Caribbean Sea and the still waters of a lagoon. The shoreline here seems perfectly designed for relaxation; thatched huts stand alongside wooden daybeds and cushioned lounge chairs in the sand. Within a slingshot range of the beach are a large freeform pool and infinity hot tubs, all of which look out over the Caribbean’s turquoise waters.

  • Where you'll stay: a standard guest room with marble floors and a minibar or a deluxe ocean-view room with a private balcony overlooking the ocean.
  • Prime location: The resort is located in Cancún’s Hotel Zone, a popular tourist area full of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.
  • Optional all-inclusive package lets you drink and dine freely at any of the resort’s restaurants and bars, including a beachfront surf n' turf restaurant.
  • Enjoy a live mariachi band while sipping a margarita at El Mortero Restaurant, the resort's hacienda-style eatery.
  • Set kids loose at the children's pool and play area.
  • Direct beach access: From this hotel’s doors, it’s only a short trek to a public beach.
  • Make a splash in the hotel’s outdoor beachfront pool

Cancún: Cool White Sands and Mayan Relics

Located on a barrier island shaped like the number seven, Cancún's Hotel Zone juts into the Caribbean Sea at the northeast tip of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. With the sea on one side and freshwater lagoons on the other, it's a popular spot for sailing and snorkeling. Although the beaches and barrier reefs are a major draw, the geography is equally enticing further inland, where you can dive into an underground river or take a speedboat through a mangrove jungle.

The stone columns of El Rey Ruins, an ancient Mayan site dating back to the second and third centuries BCE, lie within the city’s Hotel Zone. Believed to be a royal burial ground, the archaeological site is also home to wild iguanas that lounge in the sun.

Groupon did it again! Cancun, MX was a blast. Enjoyed our stay at this hotel - Krystal Cancun. First time booking an international stay with Groupon. Located on hotel zone and on beach side. Very attentive hotel staff. FYI: Allow a few days to confirm reservation with hotel. Imperative to use hotel website from Groupon ONLY bcuz other sites were fraudulent. Rodrigo Cervantes was very communicative

Krystal Cancun Stay We had an amazing experience at Las Velas restaurant in resort Krystal Cancun. The chef named Miguel and his helper Erick made our stay unforgettable. We are an Indian vegetarian family who were craving home cooked Indian vegetarian meals. We talked to the chef Miguel if he could prepare something special for us. We stayed there 5 nights and Miguel prepared everything we asked him to that was not the part of their regular menu. Kudos to him…. Cheers!!

Waste of money , will not come back Waste of money. I’ve spent 6 days in that hotel. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. First room. Was very noisy even at 2 am. The service person coming was surprised of the amount of noise at 2:30 in the morning. We had issues of water. First the room was ready late we were so tired and the room was ready but they didn’t bother to let us in till we ask multiple times was way after 3. The hot water was out they kept saying it will be back soon. It never came back they cut the hot water because building B was not fully occupied. After several complaints was told it’s a scheduled maintenance. They just cut the hot water. At night they cut the entire water. You can’t flush the toilet or wash your hands. We called reception. The lady looked at me and shook her shoulders and said the building B is empty that’s why they cut the water in it. Any way we switched rooms to another building A which had a different issue. The room smelled like sewage. I complained and got the lady to smell it she apologised and got a small ozone machine that did nothing. Again I went to reception asked the person to come with me and smell the room. The lady said sorry we have an issue with the sewage we are working on it. I told her would you stay in this smell ? She said No , we will give you another room. Had to wait again till the found a room and have for the third time to move. I was given a room in the 7th floor away from the sewage smell. The room had no smell but as I tried to see if there is water. Realised that the water in the faucet is brown. Either in the sink or the tub. This was very discouraging because this is the third room in 3 days. That all rooms has issues I called reception they didn’t seem very interested and did not want to believe me. I took a video of the water coming from the faucet brown. Went downstairs to reception to let them know. Initially the person in reception said. It’s not possible. To that I responded by showing him the video of the brown water coming from the faucet in the tub and the sink. He was stunned. He didn’t think I will take a video , I told him I’m asking for the bare minimum do you think this water is safe to use ?he said ok will give you another room . He added we will go through it before to make sure all is ok. Again we packed for the fourth time at 10 pm. We went to a room in the 8th floor. Well. It didn’t have hot water but we decided it’s the 4th room in 4 days it’s 10 pm we are tired it’s not worth it. We have a day and 1 night left we will just take it. Obviously all the rooms have issues. Every time anything happens the staff would say well it’s a 40 years old resort what do you expect. No water ? It’s a 40 years old hotel. Sewage overflowing. It’s a 40 years old. Brown water it’s a 40 years old resort. We were promised they will refund the money we paid at the resort and we kept getting the runaround till we left the hotel. Even though we talked to multiple people to follow up. And everyone promise will take care of it then disappear. Also the elevators were down at different times. The only one that was consistent is the service elevator which was not taken off commission, Food is mediocre same food every day. Does not change in the 6 days 5 nights I was there. They get the food ready and it all tastes the same and very bad quality. The à la carte restaurants were not any better either I returned the food most of the time. One time in the Mexican restaurant the meat was raw. We told the server the meat is raw. I showed him blood in it. He said do you want me to put it in the oven. I said No. I’ll just leave now. And we cancelled the next day reservation. The Asian restaurant. Was not much different or the Mediterranean so I mostly ate fruits and vegetables which were plenty. Decided not to try anything anymore and stick to what I know instead of wasting food.

You cannot sleep at the crystal Cancun We love the crystal and the beach is the best there is. However, I don’t think that we can return. Every night there is loud pounding music from the beach club next-door. It is so intense you cannot sleep. And we were even in the room furthest away from the music. I wish that the Crystal would put pressure on this beach club just to turn down the music a tiny bit Please do not go to this resort if you want to sleep at all
