Property at a Glance: Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa

And from the inside of a kayak or the top of a bicycle seat, they can gaze out at the beautiful wooded area that surrounds Arrowhead Lake in the spring and summertime.

  • Take a dip in the pool heated for maximum comfort. Guests can also venture into the on-site steam room for an escape from the cold during the winter months.
  • Grab a bite to eat at Bin 189, the on-site restaurant with classy, contemporary American cuisine. Or sip on a coffee or smoothie from Aroma's Coffee Shop.

Lake Arrowhead, California: Exclusive Resort Town with Private Boating Lake, Shopping, and Skiing

Tucked into the San Bernardino Mountains, Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa is a cozy retreat with stunning lake views and forested surroundings. While the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable, parts of the property reflect its vintage mountain-lodge charm. If you're seeking ultra-modern luxury, this may not be the right fit—but if you value relaxation, nature, and rustic comfort, you'll feel right at home.

Guests can cozy up by the lobby fireplace in winter, relax at the on-site Spa of the Pines, or take a peaceful kayak out on the lake in warmer months. You’ll also find classic American dining at Bin 189, a lakeside restaurant with gorgeous views.

It’s little wonder why so many city dwellers from San Diego and Los Angeles make the 2.5-hour drive to Lake Arrowhead. The town has a secluded natural setting in the San Bernardino National Forest in the San Bernardino Mountains, which have been called the “The Alps of Southern California.” In the winter, it’s great for skiing at resorts such as Snow Valley, and there are many boutique vineyards in the area open for tastings. In warmer weather, you can hit up its hiking trails. The 6-mile Deep Creek Hot Springs trail is good for beginners; for more of a challenge, hike a portion of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, which passes Lake Arrowhead on its way from Mexico to Canada.

The community’s inarguable centerpiece, however, is the lake. It's privately owned, lending it an air of exclusivity, but guests at nearby resorts typically get access to its beaches and watersports. Fishing is a big draw in spring, when big bass, kokanee salmon, and trout are plentiful. Once the weather warms up, the lake becomes a hot spot for water-skiing—there's even a designated course that frequently hosts races. On the southern shores, you’ll find clothing boutiques, waterfront restaurants, and a free summer concert series at Lake Arrowhead Village. You can learn more about the village and see the lavish homes along the lake on the Lake Arrowhead Queen boat tour.

Tips Before You Book:

  • For the best views, upgrade to a balcony lake-facing room at check-in (subject to availability).
  • The pull-out sofa beds are best suited for kids or short stays.
  • While not ultra-modern, the rooms are well-kept, and the staff is known for warm hospitality.
  • The surrounding area is quiet and secluded—ideal for unplugging and relaxing.

Very nice hotel, heated pool, game room for kids, Walking distance to market for snacks and drinks, in front of Lake and the popular downtown village. I still had to pay the daily $35 resort fee which I only stay 1 night that was king of suck. Free parking

Great location- but very dated Choose this hotel because it was on the lake, with beach access. Also, had a balcony & close to village. The lobby is very nice, but the property is definitely showing its age. The exterior is a bit weathered & in need of a facelift. Room was overall fairly clean, functional & comfortable-but dated. Stained carpet, ripped wallpaper, torn curtain & cracked floor tiles in the basement. We did enjoy the short stroll to the village, friendly staff & the game room. There’s a restaurant on-site, but we didn’t try it. When we checked in, there was some party for guest happening by the pool. Very welcoming! If the price is right, I might stay here again. (We had found a great deal on TripAdvisor) Really enjoyed having a balcony overlooking the lake. Very relaxing…

Relaxing Stay! This review happened in August of 2025. My wife and I visited this location as our last mini vacation before she goes back to work for the fall school year. The hotel is located right next to Lake Arrowhead, and it even has a very small but very nice lakefront so you can actually swim in the lake. The lake is very nice and has a very beautiful lobby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and bar (I highly recommend you eat there). The hotel has pool and hot tub and it's perfect to relax in and they even have a gym. The lakefront is located in the same area where the pool and hot tub are. Steps will take you to the lake, go early and you'll have the lakefront all to yourself. The hotel is surrounded by pine trees, and it gives the hotel a secluded felling. The hotel is really nice, but it does show its age, and it does need some rapiers. Out suite was facing the lake and has a very nice view. The room has signs of its age and needed repairs (Chipped paint, water damage, peeling wallpaper, damaged furniture). But honestly it was no big issue. We enjoyed our stay and will come back here again. We are thinking of coming back in the fall (We want to see the season change). We highly recommend you visit this hotel and give it a chance.

We are loving our stay at the resort! I was a little worried after reading some recent reviews, but our experience has been great, from booking to check-in to housekeeping. We arrived early and the front desk gave us wristbands so we could hit the pool and beach right away. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, and the bar served amazing drinks. Orange Julius mocktails for the kids and delicious cocktails for us adults. No rush, just vacation mode. Michelle at check-in was fantastic and got us adjoining first-level rooms facing the lake (highly recommend - worth it for the lakeside and tree view). Rooms are clean and nicely furnished; yes, a little wear here and there, but nothing to fuss over. Shoutout to Maria B. from housekeeping. She was wonderful and so appreciative of a tip (please tip your housekeeping staff!). We’ve been walking into the village for meals (Cadillac Cowboy BBQ was a win, Belgian Waffle Works for breakfast), and even caught a rainbow trout off the dock one morning. The private beach here is perfect. We’ve been choosing it over the kid-packed pool. Bottom line: we’re having a great time! My advice is to ignore the chronic complainers (my husband and I have a running joke mocking the complainers (we're looking at you toddler-toting , swamp-A/C-with-too-much-crap-guy - do better). Be kind to the staff and enjoy the beautiful setting.
