And from the inside of a kayak or the top of a bicycle seat, they can gaze out at the beautiful wooded area that surrounds Arrowhead Lake in the spring and summertime.

  • Take a dip in the pool heated for maximum comfort. Guests can also venture into the on-site steam room for an escape from the cold during the winter months.
  • Grab a bite to eat at Bin 189, the on-site restaurant with classy, contemporary American cuisine. Or sip on a coffee or smoothie from Aroma's Coffee Shop.

Lake Arrowhead, California: Exclusive Resort Town with Private Boating Lake, Shopping, and Skiing

Tucked into the San Bernardino Mountains, Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa is a cozy retreat with stunning lake views and forested surroundings. While the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable, parts of the property reflect its vintage mountain-lodge charm. If you're seeking ultra-modern luxury, this may not be the right fit—but if you value relaxation, nature, and rustic comfort, you'll feel right at home.

Guests can cozy up by the lobby fireplace in winter, relax at the on-site Spa of the Pines, or take a peaceful kayak out on the lake in warmer months. You’ll also find classic American dining at Bin 189, a lakeside restaurant with gorgeous views.

It’s little wonder why so many city dwellers from San Diego and Los Angeles make the 2.5-hour drive to Lake Arrowhead. The town has a secluded natural setting in the San Bernardino National Forest in the San Bernardino Mountains, which have been called the “The Alps of Southern California.” In the winter, it’s great for skiing at resorts such as Snow Valley, and there are many boutique vineyards in the area open for tastings. In warmer weather, you can hit up its hiking trails. The 6-mile Deep Creek Hot Springs trail is good for beginners; for more of a challenge, hike a portion of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, which passes Lake Arrowhead on its way from Mexico to Canada.

The community’s inarguable centerpiece, however, is the lake. It's privately owned, lending it an air of exclusivity, but guests at nearby resorts typically get access to its beaches and watersports. Fishing is a big draw in spring, when big bass, kokanee salmon, and trout are plentiful. Once the weather warms up, the lake becomes a hot spot for water-skiing—there's even a designated course that frequently hosts races. On the southern shores, you’ll find clothing boutiques, waterfront restaurants, and a free summer concert series at Lake Arrowhead Village. You can learn more about the village and see the lavish homes along the lake on the Lake Arrowhead Queen boat tour.

Tips Before You Book:

  • For the best views, upgrade to a balcony lake-facing room at check-in (subject to availability).
  • The pull-out sofa beds are best suited for kids or short stays.
  • While not ultra-modern, the rooms are well-kept, and the staff is known for warm hospitality.
  • The surrounding area is quiet and secluded—ideal for unplugging and relaxing.

Poor Quality This survey is directed towards housekeeping and quality control operations. I stayed in room 235 on 08/01 to 08/03. Upon checking into my room late that evening, I noticed that the bathtub drain was not working properly. Since it was close to 11 PM, I decided to wait until the next day to report it. Around 7 AM the following day I reported the issue to Michelle at the front desk. She was very polite and sent a technician to my room within 30 minutes. The technician advise me that it was too early in the morning to snake the drain and that he will be back later on to complete the service order. I thanked him and gave him approval to enter my room since I was going to be away from the room during the day. As we were getting ready in the morning, I noticed that the inner curtain for the sliding door was missing, and it appeared that someone yanked it off, which basically gave us no privacy. I also noticed an excessive amount of stains on the carpet which appeared to have been from the previous guest since majority of the stains were still moist. At that point I had seen enough and I usually wait until the end of my stay to report my findings and dissatisfaction, but I needed to make it a point to address it now so that front desk was aware of the poor condition of the room. Michelle was very apologetic and offered us a refund on the resort fees. Unfortunately, because of the lack of room availability, she was not able to find us another room for the weekend. I was baffled that housekeeping did not notice the drain issue since they’re supposed to clean the tub at the end of every stay. Also, the lack of them not reporting the curtain missing as well as how filthy the carpet was. This room should’ve never been offered to the public until the repairs and cleaning was done properly . It appears that there is a huge gap in quality control when it comes to housekeeping and I fear this will continue to be a problem if it’s not addressed properly. This was my 10th time staying at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and I noticed a huge shift since the resort was sold off and lost its AAA Four Diamond Award quality. Please go back to the basics. Take the client’s feedback and concerns and actually do something to address them. This place has great potential with an AMAZING location it just requires quality control, consistency and strong leadership to bring it back to its glory. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any additional questions or if you would like to invite me back to experience another stay of better quality.

My partner and I have been members for over a year and love the location, but the recent rate increase feels unjustified given ongoing maintenance issues—broken showers, moldy dirty flooring near showers, unclean HVAC ducts above toilets, no lighting/broken & taped up lights in steam rooms, broken ceiling and wall tiles in yhe steam room, unusable lockers, and flooding in the women’s area. We politely asked about any discount options but were told rates are fixed. Sadly, the facility’s condition and lack of flexibility don’t reflect the high monthly price. We hope to see improvements but will not return.

Weekend at Lake Arrowhead We will be back! Loved the location (walking distance to shops and restaurants). The breakfast buffet was great and enjoyed eating outside on the deck overlooking the water. Next time we’ll get a lake view. Kids loved the pool and private beach!
