Family-Friendly Resort on Delavan Lake

Lake Lawn Resort is set on 250 wooded acres overlooking Delavan Lake. The TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner is conveniently situated within an hour of Milwaukee and two hours of Chicago, offering a pleasant retreat from city life. Take a dip in the indoor pool, visit the activity center for snowshoe or bicycle rentals (depending on the season), or relax with a hot-stone massage at the onsite Calladora Spa.

To make the most out of your stay, consider purchasing a Groupon valid for various treatments at the spa. There are currently two deals available, one for a spa day with Calladora massage packages, and one for a couple’s spa package.

The warm confines of the guest rooms complement the woodsy surroundings. Each one features a view of the grounds, and some overlook the lake. Amenities vary from room to room, but they may include a massage tub or private balcony.

For dinner, you can try one of Lake Lawn Resort’s three onsite restaurants. Savor flame-grilled steaks in the Frontier Restaurant, where every table looks out on Delavan Lake, or grab a drink at the Frontier Fireside Lounge. At Lookout Bar & Eatery, meanwhile, you can watch sports on big-screen TVs or catch live entertainment.

Delavan, Wisconsin: 19th-Century History and Wooded Landscapes near Lake Geneva

More than a century ago, Delavan blossomed into a circus headquarters where dozens of trapeze artists, contortionists, clowns, and exotic animals were based, including those who performed in P.T. Barnum’s legendary Greatest Show on Earth. Tower Park pays homage to this history with colorful statues of giraffes, elephants, and other animals.

Delavan’s early days live on through Greek Revival architecture dating back to the mid-1800s. Notable buildings include the Allyn Mansion and the Israel Stowell Temperance House. The quaint downtown district features several antique stores and small cafes amid old-fashioned lampposts and brick-paved walkways.

Beautiful Resort Has Aged Gracefully I have been visiting and staying at Lake Lawn for over 60 years! But I haven't stayed since 2005 so it was time for a short getaway. We had a lovely room in Boulder Lodge. It was spotlessly clean. Great bed, tv, excellent fridge, microwave and lovely balcony. A/C worked great. Only issue with the room was the paper thin walls. We could hear every word our neighbors said, even though they were speaking in a normal voice. (And the toilet paper was way too thin.) The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed walking along the lake path and exploring the corridors. The gift shop was the best shop we visited in our entire stay in the Lake Geneva region. We enjoyed the indoor pool and the oddly named Isle of Capri coffee shop. We did not eat in any of the resort's restaurants. Every employee we encountered was friendly and polite and seemed happy. Parking is easy and convenient. Lake Lawn Resort has preserved the best of its history and heritage while incorporating modern updates - well done! When we visit the Geneva Lakes region we will definitely stay here again

The new decor is ugly We really were excited to stay at Lake Lawn Resort and it was great. So great that I wanted to purchase a condo. But in my research I discovered that so many were for sale because they were doing a huge renovation that would costs the owners thousands. I was still interested but when I discovered what the rooms would look like after renovation I was truly heart broken. I love the woodsy ambiance of the rooms and the public areas. It's cozy, country charm at it's best. Whoever they hired to redecorate should be fired. It's blank, plain, I guess they are going for a marina type look. Blues instead of greens. But it's just common and bland looking. No charm. I don't think the owners had any say in redecorating either. Just had to pay for it.

3 star resort with 5 star prices My extended family and I have been doing an annual trip to Lake Lawn for a decade now - some summers we've even gone twice. Unfortunately, that will end this summer. The grounds are beautiful and the location is great, especially coming from Chicago or Milwaukee, but unfortunately the service doesn't live up to the cost, especially in high summer. We ran into some issues on our trip last summer, which culminated with an issue with the Lookout Bar. We asked to sit outside, they told us that we wouldn't have any service (even though the customers around us did), but that we could order takeout. None of this was true, and after an hour wait with both grandparents and young children, we talked to a manager who took some money off our bill. In itself, this isn't the end of the world - although we had little issues with service the entire trip: the check in process is long, and often unfriendly; the workers at the pools seldom look up from their phone to greet you, let alone hand you a towel or clean up the deck, our request to have rooms near each other was denied - the real issue came afterwards, and is the reason I'm finally writing this review so late. I have tried to contact management multiple times. I have send both a letter and an email about our issues in more depth. And I've heard nothing back in the six months since I've sent it. The whole place is obviously catering much more towards corporate and large events, leaving families that were the backbone of Lake Lodge throughout it's history. Our family will be finding other resorts or lake houses to get together this summer.
