The hotel is in a great location and I thought the room was very nice. When we checked, I let the front desk know that I was using a groupon and all was well, or so I thought. Once we arrived home, I realized that the hotel had also charged my credit card which was required to be given for incidentals. We left on July 3rd and I called the hotel to get this taken care of on July 4th but as of today I have not gotten a call back.

New Orleans, LA: Cradle of American Culture and Resilience

New Orleans stands as a singular city in the American landscape—shaped by centuries of colonial rule, cultural fusion, and unbroken endurance. Founded by the French in 1718 and later ruled by the Spanish before joining the United States via the Louisiana Purchase, the city wears its layered past with unapologetic pride. The French Quarter, with its wrought-iron balconies and narrow streets, serves not just as a tourist hub but as a living archive of architectural preservation. At the bend of the Mississippi River, New Orleans rose as a key port city, its docks once bustling with goods, immigrants, and ideas that would fuel the city’s role in shaping music, cuisine, and commerce in the American South.

But New Orleans is more than its history—it’s a place where culture has become resistance. The birthplace of jazz, the city gave voice to African American expression in an era of suppression, turning rhythm into revolution. Every Mardi Gras parade and second line march is a public act of memory, blending West African, Caribbean, and European traditions into something distinctly Louisianan. In the face of hurricanes, floods, and systemic neglect, New Orleans endures—not as a relic, but as a dynamic cultural force. It doesn’t just remember its past; it lives it, honors it, and transforms it into something new.

Unsafe As I stood on the 17th floor of your hotel at 5:30AM on a Friday, desperation set in. With a critical ride to the airport looming, I was met with a crippling obstacle: every elevator was out of commission. The clock was ticking, and I was trapped. My multiple joint replacements and handicapped condition made the prospect of navigating the stairs a daunting, potentially disastrous task. Yet, with no other choice, I steeled myself for the ordeal ahead. I frantically attempted to reach the front desk, dialing multiple phone numbers from my cell, the elevator phone, and even the phone in my room. But my cries for help were met with deafening silence - no one answered. The isolation was suffocating. With my multiple luggage items in tow, I embarked on the perilous journey down 17 flights of stairs. But the hotel had one more hazard in store for me: a flooded staircase, rendered treacherously slippery by a burst pipe. Every step was a gamble, every movement a threat to my safety. One wrong move could have sent me tumbling, with catastrophic consequences. I somehow managed to survive the descent, my luggage and I making it to the bottom just as my ride was about to depart. But the experience left me shaken, and the memory of your hotel's negligence will stay with me forever. The fact that I was forced to risk my well-being in such a manner is a damning indictment of the hotel's failure to provide a safe environment for its guests.
