Olympia, Washington: Capital City Along Puget Sound

Washington’s capital city, Olympia, sits along the southern end of Puget Sound on the shores of Budd Inlet. The city has a small-town feel, especially when the state legislature isn’t in session. Set on a bluff overlooking the sound, the Washington State Capitol has an imposing presence. You can take a tour to see the eagles and gilded rosettes painted in its 287-foot-high dome. Afterward, enjoy a fresh seafood dinner at a dockside restaurant or visit the city’s farmers’ market.

Known for having a thriving arts scene, Olympia has numerous theaters and show venues. At the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, you can see touring plays, operas, and ballets. The town has its own film festival and shows classic and independent films year-round at the Capitol Theater. For rock-history buffs, Olympia is also where Kurt Cobain wrote most of Nirvana’s iconic album Nevermind.

Changes not for the better We have been going to Little Creek since they've opened as we live outside of Ocean Shores. We usually stay for 2 days when my wife goes to bingo. We've always stayed in the two room suite in Tower one as it's nice to have two bathrooms and it's the closest to bingo as my wife has difficulty walking. Now to find out that you can no longer reserve a two-room suite in Tower one because it's only for high rollers. There are six two rooms Suites on Tower one and I can't believe that they won't give regular people that do spend quite a bit of money but obviously not enough. Last time we stayed in the two room suite in Tower two, but it was very difficult for my wife to walk all the way around. I don't know what other option unless we reserve a connecting room. Since they changed the website I really can't tell the difference between a deluxe Suite and a deluxe room as the pictures advertise are exactly the same and so is the description.

RV PARK The Little Creek Casino Complex is located approx 10 miles north of Olympia WA on #101. When you arrive at the Complex, go to the second entrance and park in the gravel overflow lot to check-in. You have to go to the Hotel front desk. The RV park has about 42 sites with a mix of pull thru and back in sites. The washroom is excellent and there is a laundry room attached. There is good wi-fi and cable TV. The only issue to me is the $125 credit card hold for damages. I paid the Passport America rate of $36.00 for my stay.

Look for another place First of all, when you make a reservation normally you expect to get a confirmation email. Not here. I had to ask for one. Neither was I told that I would be charged in advance for the full two days despite the fact that I would get a refund if I canceled within the time allowed. No checkin help was offered with our bags. This was not a big deal, but showed a lack of customer concern. The room we were given was old and worn. And I mean worn. The was a hole near the shower door. The shower pan was so rickety I was afraid that it might fall through. The carpet in the room was stained, and although it may have been clean, looked so dirty that I did not want to walk on it with my bare feet. The room was dark. It was gloomy. One of the lights was not even plugged in. Again, not a big deal to rectify, but it showed a lack of detail to service. The bed was poorly made. The towels were cheap. They were thin. The coffee bar person was overwhelmed with customers. She had no help, and her attitude showed. She was not friendly to say the least. But, the room was the worst.

FRAUDULENT CHARGES They charged my personal card without authorization for my stay at a work conference, even though they had a company credit card authorization on file and billed the company also. THEN a month later my personal credit card was charged again for the same amount! This is FRAUD do not stay here! No one will answer my emails.

Good Value - would stay again Nice location, although not much else around - about 2 hours south of Port Angeles. Hotel, casino, pool & hot tub all nice and good value. The rooms are beginning to show some wear - certainly still adequate and clean. Lots of options for food. We would stay again.
