Panama City Beach, Florida: Sugar-White Beaches and Scuba-Diving Spots

Panama City Beach’s slogan—“The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches”—may seem boastful. But TripAdvisor helped back up this claim in 2013, naming the local St. Andrews State Park as having 1 of the top 25 beaches in the United States. The park also has two fishing piers, a jetty, and a boat ramp, plus nature trails for bird watching. Elsewhere in town, you can arrange a scuba-diving trip to explore the area’s dozens of natural and artificial reefs.

The atmosphere is more relaxed and geared toward families. There are numerous amusement parks along the 20-plus miles of shoreline. Many of the popular seafood restaurants and bars here overlook the Gulf of Mexico.

If you’re looking to escape the crowds, take the ferry to Shell Island, an uninhabited, 7-mile-long barrier island. On the ride over, you might see some of the bottlenose dolphins that frequent these warm waters. Once there, you can soak in the sun on the empty beaches and go snorkeling. It’s also worth it to visit the nature preserve at Conservation Park, which has 24 miles of trails. One 11-mile trek goes past wooden boardwalks and wetlands; keep your eyes peeled and you might see woodpeckers in the trees and alligators lurking beside cypresses.

Never book with Resort Collection!!! First of all Long Beach Resort is great but NEVER book through Resort Collection. I always stay at Long Beach and book through private owners. This year those condos booked quickly so I had to book with Resort Collection. I had requested a higher floor of course they will tell you this is not a guarantee. You also do not get to choose your condo you get what is available at that moment you check in. I was given Tower 3 Condo 203 — 2 bedroom, 2 bath. Not updated at all but not a huge deal. First thing I notice the shower door is off track and dangling from shower in 2 bed bedroom. Dishwasher was beeping and maintenance had to be called and fixed. That did happen dishwasher was actually fixed. The deal breaker — all three mattresses on the beds were hard as a rock. We basically felt like we were sleeping on a board. I called front desk immediately, I was told the owners of this condo would have to be contacted and new mattresses bought. I asked to speak to a manger, I called Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and finally speak to a Manager on Wednesday. He was nice and apologetic was told someone would come out to inspect the mattresses and I would be credited 10% of my total for condo. I still have not seen that appear in my bank account, I plan to call again today. Resort collection will respond with a generic service recovery statement and thats fine. That’s what management does, but take heed to my warning do not spend over $2700 for a weeks vacation here if you must go through Resort Collection you will regret that decision. I never expected any refund or to have too write a huge negative review. I love PCB and Long Beach but I don’t want anyone to have an experience like I did and pay suck a large price to sleep on a board. If the owners of this post read this, you should be ashamed of yourself for leaving mattresses like this on your beds. Management and owners please go lay on your beds and see how you like laying on a board. My family and I are back home now and will be going to our Chiropractor sadly to get some relief with our backs.

So Disappointed Our stay in Long Beach Resort was nothing but disappointment from the minute we checked in! We stayed in Tower 2 Room 904 through Resort Collection. We started trying to check in at 3:00 after a long 10 hour drive down. The front desk at Long Beach is closed for renovations so we were originally told to check in at Edgewater Beach Resort down the road but on the way down we received a call saying we need to check in on the app so that’s what we was going to do. We tried checking in on the app multiple times and calling to check to see if our room was ready between 3:00-6:00, around 6:00 we had gotten so frustrated with the situation that we decided to go to the front desk at Edgewater Beach Resort to see if we could figure out the problem. We was told there was a electrical issue that was a “liability” that had been broken for a WEEK already and maintenance had to fix it before we could check in. We told the gentleman at the front desk that we needed in the unit and we couldn’t wait all evening. He agreed to let us in but little did we know that was only the start of our problems. We finally get in the room that we paid $2,500.00 for a week stay and find that the windows in the bedrooms are so fogged up that you can’t see out of them, like they had never been cleaned before. The couch was ripped, tv remotes don’t work, doors are rusted, and overall the place is very poorly taken care of. The pictures on Resort Collections website are very deceiving and not what you will receive. I know it says all units are individual owned and the pictures on the website are just examples but our room doesn’t even compare. I’m not one to leave bad reviews but I like to feel like I am getting my money’s worth and I do not feel like I did at Long Beach Resort through Resort Collection. I will NEVER give them another dime of my money or stay with Resort Collection again.

Worst place! From the moment we walked in our room it was awful!!! Don’t stay here! Room smelled musty and mildew. Air conditioner was broken never got below 77 degrees in our room. Woke up every morning feeling sticky from Lack of air. Called everyday for it to be fixed! No one has came. We are on day ! Check in is awful and very unorganized. Lobby area smells like cat pee. Room was very outdated we didn’t even have a couch it was 1980s futon that smelled like mildew. Worst experience ever! Will never book here again. We will be staying at Emerald Beach like we normally do. Room ceiling were so low that you couldn’t get the luggage rack in the room to unload stuff. Door was all Rusted.
