The Las Vegas Strip: 24/7 Entertainment and Fine Dining

With an almost unlimited variety of casinos, bars and nightclubs, and live entertainment, the general consensus along the Las Vegas Strip seems to be “go big or go home.” And you can go really big here. Make a beeline for the dozens of 24-hour casinos lining the neon-lit Strip to tango with Lady Luck in high-stakes games of roulette, blackjack, and poker; or grab a front-row seat to the city’s over-the-top glitz at nightly magic, acrobatic, and musical performances. Be sure to stick around for mealtimes—casinos on the Strip are known for their fine-dining restaurants and extravagant buffets overflowing with crab legs and prime rib.

Even Sin City isn’t all casinos, all the time. Go shopping at the high-end boutiques found inside most hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, or head to Fashion Show Las Vegas to browse racks at Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue. You can also virtually travel the globe in just a few city blocks, thanks to the Strip’s re-creation of the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, and Venetian canals. And you’ll find a surprising number of activities in Las Vegas for kids hidden amid the raucous nightlife.

Motel 6 has better hospitality. Horrible experience. Between having to rent a mini fridge, having my driver's license destroyed by your card reader, days with no hot water, and nights with no water... Why did I pay $120/day in resort fees and taxs?

Just Ok Been a while since I had stayed at the Luxor. I remember why. Nothing very memorable to write home about but nothing too awful. Check in lines around noon on a Thursday were fairly long but if you have Mlife Gold or above, or the credit card you get a priority line. I'm eligible so only took me a few minutes. That said, front desk, like most properties now a days seemed completely understaffed. Had a pyramid king in the "green" elevator wing of the hotel. The green elevators are awful. Rickety, falling apart and no better than you might find at a motel 6. The room itself is not bad. Good size and clean. However if you are anywhere near the elevator expect to hear it all night. Pool- The pool was ok. Nothing special which is perfect for me. Don't expect a party or loud music (again good for me). VIP chairs with umbrellas right next to the pool were $75 for the day, pretty cheap by Vegas standards. You get your own server with the chair but they were so slow I went to the bar and purchased myself. But the pool itself was not overly crowded (I went Thursday and Friday). Casino-the casino here is large and there is a good variety of slots and table games. Was a little surprised that a value hotel didn't have $5 craps but you could find $10 easy enough. Other games were usually $10 Min. The sportsbook is fairly small but seating is free and there is a bar right behind you (again, servers were painfully slow). TV's are not really up to Vegas standards for a sportsbook nowadays but for a free seat during a football weekend I couldn't complain. Dining and nightlife-There is a food court on the second floor but it's shockingly expensive for not so good food. They have a Johnny Rockets (think cheap pancakes and bacon) but expect to still pay almost $30 for a "fast food" style breakfast. I'd recommend walking over to the Excalibur bazaar (connects to the Luxor) for the same quality food but much cheaper prices. I did eat at Tender (their steakhouse). Food was very good and appropriately Vegas priced but eating solo at the bar you will be bugged by patrons just walking up for a shot. The restaurant opens up right to the casino so it may as well be a casino bar. As for the bars, no real nightlife to speak of. The center bar (closest thing) closed around 1 each night and they sent you over to Flight, a small, no energy spot that people mainly ignored and went to bed. Public House wasn't bad for a more casual meal and there were plenty of tv's to watch the game but the volume was absurdly loud given the space. Location-You're almost all the way at the North end of the strip so if you want to get center of the strip action, prepare for a long walk or an Uber. Luxor does connect to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur so you can get the experience of the three without stepping a foot outside. They also have a free tram that runs the length of the three properties. Cost- The room was dirt cheap but they get you with the famous resort fee. I believe it was $45 a night (and taxes on the resort fees) for the ability to print boarding passes (ok), free local calls (sure), the gym (no clue if they even have one), etc. Worst con job in Vegas but they all do it. All in all for the price it wasn't awful. This was a hastily planned trip on a budget. Next time I'll put more away and stay somewhere center strip for more money but if you are on a budget and you just want to hang in one place with no frills you could do worse.

Not a first round draft pick The place is getting torn down that should say all you need to know, great for a cheap on strip place though. If you want somewhere cheap this is it, somewhere nice this isn't your answer. Plus side you can use their fridges without being charged.
