Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

To me it's about customer service and the customer service was beyond my exceptions. Allison at the front desk is an angel in human form. She was so accommodating to me, I'm a disabled veteran. I was traveling to attend an event at the UN. The location is so close to the UN. You and walk there. You can take the train or Uber. Amtrak and the regular train is so close. Radio City is down the street.

Poor Accommodation The location is perfect and very central to Time Square. Which is one of the main reasons I selected this hotel for our family holiday. However the accomodation it's self is a different matter, deppeing ion the room type you selcet. The standard room, which I selected for our family trip was very dated in its deco, with parts of the wall paper coming off ,the plug for the bath didn't fit properly, so the water would often drain away whilst trying to have a bath The breakfast, again is poor considering what you pay per person, as all you get is a pastry, drink and a bit of fruit. For such a busy hotel and the center of New York and for the cost you would expect better. Also be aware of the hotel taxes , and check before you book, Otherwise you will be hit with a larger bill than you have planned for.

I would personally give it a miss My partner and I stayed here from the 4th to the 9th this month. First impressions when entering reception were positive — the lobby looked clean and tidy, and we had high hopes. At check-in, however, we were surprised by a very high deposit that had to be paid immediately. It would have been helpful to receive prior notice of this by email. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely not a great start. We were given a room on the 10th floor. Stepping out of the lift felt like something out of a horror movie — the hallway was very run down and quite sketchy looking. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve when we entered the room. We were extremely disappointed. The carpet had multiple iron burn marks, the bed sheets were dirty with black hairs, the sink and bath were blocked with cloudy water, and the wallpaper was peeling off the walls. I went straight to reception to report the issues. The receptionist (whose name I didn’t catch) seemed uninterested and dismissive, although he did move us to another room (1210). While this room was slightly better, it was still very worn and poorly maintained. We were also not informed that construction was taking place in the room next door. Being woken up every morning between 6–7am by drilling and banging was extremely frustrating — especially when you’ve paid a significant amount for a trip to New York. On top of that, whenever someone used the shower or flushed in the room above us, the pipes were so loud it sounded like the ceiling might collapse. Overall, you are paying for the location rather than the quality of the rooms. The cleaning staff were lovely, but the reception staff came across as unsympathetic and rude. For anyone wanting a truly enjoyable New York stay, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Advice to the hotel: please inform guests about construction in advance and work on providing a more welcoming and respectful customer experience.
