Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

To me it's about customer service and the customer service was beyond my exceptions. Allison at the front desk is an angel in human form. She was so accommodating to me, I'm a disabled veteran. I was traveling to attend an event at the UN. The location is so close to the UN. You and walk there. You can take the train or Uber. Amtrak and the regular train is so close. Radio City is down the street.

Definitely a must stay. I loved the location, it was central to all the touristy spots. It was my first time to NYC and staying at the Manhattan allowed me to do so many things. The room was perfect. What added to our travel that made it superb was the service. Ashley who was in charge of the 18th was so warm and welcoming. We had to loveliest conversations in the morning. We even gave her a hug when we left. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend staying here.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Overpriced and run down room(s). Our experience was a nightmare. Holiday was mis-sold to us. We were told to pay a “deposit” which is actually a facilities fee. The facilities were a cheap coffee machine in the room and a water machine down the hall. And the water machine on the floor of our second room wasn’t working. DO NOT PAY IT!!! Complained to reception who didn’t care. First room we couldn’t get into with our key card. Took about 3 or 4 times to get in. Room was dated and dirty. Bathroom full of mould/grime, shower was cold, sprinkler thick with dust, curtains ripped, lamps not working, shower cold and wouldn’t drain, drawers dirty and marked and lampshades all worn. Second room similar to the first - dirty, dated and dusty. Again similar issues with accessing the room with the key card. Takes about 4 or 5 times to get in. Bathroom again was mouldy/grime, broken tiles, dusty, marks on walls, wall paper peeling and a broken plug socket that was simply unsafe to use. The hallway carpets were all ripped and a trip hazard. Carpets didn’t look as though it has been hoovered in years! And similar to the rooms the walls were peeling. Lived out of our cases for our full trip having to move rooms but also the state and condition of the drawers and cupboard…didn’t want to use them. Weren’t the only ones having issues. Another lady said everything in her room wasn’t working and reception didn’t help her. She ended up walking away. Another couple were given a room to find another family were already in that room. Please do not book here! You will be extremely disappointed and miserable!!
