Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

To me it's about customer service and the customer service was beyond my exceptions. Allison at the front desk is an angel in human form. She was so accommodating to me, I'm a disabled veteran. I was traveling to attend an event at the UN. The location is so close to the UN. You and walk there. You can take the train or Uber. Amtrak and the regular train is so close. Radio City is down the street.

Be aware Beware of hidden costs – deposit not refunded Review: The best thing about this hotel is its location – right in the heart of Times Square, which made getting around New York really convenient. The concierge and cleaning staff were also very friendly and helpful. However, that’s unfortunately where the positives end. The rooms look nothing like the modern photos advertised – they are very dated, tired, and in desperate need of refurbishment. The hotel is under renovation, so apart from the lobby, lifts, and our rooms, we didn’t really get to experience much else. Breakfast was extremely disappointing – instead of a proper dining setup, it consisted of standing in a long queue with a voucher just to get a coffee and a pastry. It honestly felt like queueing up for school dinners. The biggest issue was with the deposit. Be aware: the money you put down is not returned as expected. I am currently in dispute with the hotel, as they insist it was refunded, but my bank statements clearly show otherwise. This added an unexpected £300 cost to my stay, which was never communicated properly. The hotel management’s communication throughout this process has been terrible. Overall, despite the location, I would not recommend this hotel. Had I known about the hidden costs and the state of the rooms, I would have chosen somewhere else – even a budget hostel would have been a better experience. Star Ratings (my opinion): • Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ • Cleanliness: ⭐⭐ • Service: ⭐⭐ • Value: ⭐

Worst hotel of our college tour We paid over $350 for a room with a stinky bathroom, a broken sliding door that wouldn’t close, and a stinky smell that filled the entire room. Housekeeping never came despite multiple requests. The hair dryer was broken, and even after asking for a replacement, none was delivered. My kids refused to shower, and several of us couldn’t sleep because of the odor. Poor service and lack of response made this worse than any hotel or Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. I will not book through IHG again. Breakfast was grab-and-go with a long wait. When it was finally our turn, the staff member was visibly impatient and dismissive. If I had known the service would be like this, I would have skipped it altogether.

Marginal hotel 3 stars at best The hotel needs a lot of repairs, carpet patched together and dirty, no WIFI in my room, TV couldn't get signal, room coffee was small but ok as it got you going, receptions desk rushed and mostly grumpy, breakfast should have been included with my reservation but I was never on the list, due to my key deactivating 3 times the manager put me on the breakfast list but when I went for my breakfast I was not on the list had to go to the receptionist and they yelled she is OK, breakfast was bad never went again, panel plate above the elevator was missing could only see lots of dust, paint peeling off the ceiling, the reason I gave it 3 stars is that it was central to my activities, would not recommend for a family or anyone spending time inside the hotel. The photos on line look great, but the hotel is not great inside. Outside looks ok.
