Hotel at a Glance: Mardi Gras Hotel & Casino

The neon lights on this hotel's gambling floor are never dimmed. That's because the casino—which features 50 slot, keno, and video poker machines—is open 24 hours a day. The onsite Bon Temps Café is also open around the clock, so you can put your winnings toward a New York strip steak and a cocktail.

  • Distance from the Strip: 1.9 miles.
  • Spectacular view of the MSG Sphere: one of the World's great new attractions.
  • Work on your tan: Relax on the sundeck surrounding the outdoor pool.
  • Where you'll stay: a comfy guest room complete with a sitting area.
  • Hop on the monorail: It takes only a 5-minute walk to the Las Vegas Convention Center monorail terminal.

Beyond the Las Vegas Strip: Old Vegas and Red Rock Canyon

It can feel like the entire city of Las Vegas revolves around the Strip if you never venture beyond that neon-lit corridor. But there’s plenty to see and do once you step off Las Vegas Boulevard. You can find a taste of Old Vegas on Fremont Street, where vintage signs and showgirls crowned with headdresses recall the days of Sinatra and Martin. Beginning at dusk, a canopy of more than 12 million LED lights erupts in a psychedelic light-and-music show every hour. For an aerial view, zoom down the center of Fremont Street on a zipline.

Nature puts on its own show at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a landscape of fiery-red sandstone formations and limestone cliffs just 17 miles outside the city. Motor down the 13-mile scenic drive or ditch the car and strike out on any of more than 20 hiking trails that course through the region’s otherworldly topography.

I honestly loved my hotel. It was a clean room, some people on here mentioned that it was dirty but my room was clean and it didn’t smell like smoke neither. The staff there was also very friendly. I would recommend. The casino however did smell like cigarettes, but that’s okay because I didn’t stay there.

Depends on the bartender __‍♂️ I stayed here, and the only person who actually made my trip amazing was the bartender—but not the first one I went to. I came in for breakfast and sat down at the bar, where “Kammy” or “Cammie” introduced herself right after she finished talking trash about the establishment to her coworker. They were having a full-on conversation about how terrible the logistics of the place were. I’m not that type of person, so I just left and came back later. That’s when I met an amazing bartender who really took care of me—Jerry. Warm, stunning, incredible. I truly appreciate her. This place itself is great, but it has a mix of toxic and amazing employees. HR - keep the good ones around. __‍♂️

Great stay for the price! In a day when things are so expensive and employees are rude to everyone, the staff ( especially bartender Liz ) at the mardi Gras Hotel was so great!! I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Liz was so nice and hard working. She was working all by herself and probably working 30 tables and keeping up with everyone.
