The Las Vegas Strip: 24/7 Entertainment and Fine Dining

With an almost unlimited variety of casinos, bars and nightclubs, and live entertainment, the general consensus along the Las Vegas Strip seems to be “go big or go home.” And you can go really big here. Make a beeline for the dozens of 24-hour casinos lining the neon-lit Strip to tango with Lady Luck in high-stakes games of roulette, blackjack, and poker; or grab a front-row seat to the city’s over-the-top glitz at nightly magic, acrobatic, and musical performances. Be sure to stick around for mealtimes—casinos on the Strip are known for their fine-dining restaurants and extravagant buffets overflowing with crab legs and prime rib.

Even Sin City isn’t all casinos, all the time. Go shopping at the high-end boutiques found inside most hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, or head to Fashion Show Las Vegas to browse racks at Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue. You can also virtually travel the globe in just a few city blocks, thanks to the Strip’s re-creation of the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, and Venetian canals. And you’ll find a surprising number of shows in Las Vegas for kids hidden among the raucous nightlife.

MGM Grand or just MGM Greed We stayed at MGM Grand, finally, after years of looking at it in awe. I've stayed in 15 Vegas resorts, but this hadn't worked out until now. We were offered an upgrade from our King suite to a King Suite with a Strip View for an extra $40 per night, $120 for our three night stay. Our son didn't do the upgrade and stayed in his King Suite. His room was ready about fifteen minutes late so we went up to his room. He had a great view of the airport and the other properties back there. Our room wasn't ready until 4:30, an hour and a half late so we sat around waiting because they told us we needed to be there when they brought our luggage. No apologies offered for the inconvenience. Our room, newly remodeled, was fresh and modern. It was basically a cube with new carpet and had nice, but simple furniture (not a bad thing), a small table with two chairs to look out the window at the Strip.... that we paid extra for.... which was of the rooftops of the MGM property for a city block and then the top of NYNY and Cosmopolitan standing in the distance. I hate getting taken advantage of. The rest of MGM is Grand as the name suggests. Its an amazing property with tons of restaurants and shows. We enjoyed everything they have except that view... with no added value that cost more. The nail in the coffin, though, were the slots. Never in my life have I seen such tight slots. I played $150 on a Wheel of Fortune game, playing small denominations because it wasn't paying and NEVER got one spin on the wheel. We didn't win enough to sit more than a few minutes at a time. Losing sucks.. especially when it's relentless. With that $40 view triggering me and the slots so tight none of us had done anything, we packed up, checked out and went to the Venetian. We had a great time gambling and the best view of the Sphere in town and they didn't charge me extra.

Clean room. The end. The room was clean, though the towels looked worn out. No kettle, no complimentary drinking water, no coffee, bell hop who wanted me to tip at drop off (1 bag) since he would be off duty at pick up (that's a first for me).
