Manhattan’s Financial District: Wall Street, Skyscrapers, and the 9/11 Memorial

Once the sole province of day traders and bankers working frenetic jobs at the New York Stock Exchange and on Wall Street, the Financial District has attracted its fair share of full-time residents in recent years. Today, more than 56,000 people live in the neighborhood, which borders The Battery on the southern tip of Manhattan.

The population boom has helped expose the neighborhood’s occasionally overlooked cultural attractions. At the eastern edge of Fulton Street, the revitalized South Street Seaport historic district is home to some of the oldest architecture in downtown Manhattan as well as a fleet of renovated sailing ships and an up-close view of the Brooklyn Bridge. The district is also home to the towering One World Trade Center, which is now the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Right next door, a memorial to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the September 11th attacks is now open for visits, along with a museum.

I booked the hotel for my girls trip, the check in was fast and professional. The room was ok due to the fact it didn’t have a microwave or Minnie fridge, but the view was beautiful and we were close to a lot of things to do and eat. The reason I’m giving it a five star is because. We had a small issue with our air conditioning one day and I went to the front desk and this wonderful lady name Denise assisted me and her demeanor was so pleasant and understanding to the situation. She immediately handled the problem and it was fixed within minutes. She also gave us two bottles of water the next day when we arrived back after a hot day outside. Denise made us feel comfortable and willing to return to this hotel in the near future.

Location, location and location. I was a little apprehensive when I booked this hotel given all of the bad reviews. I was pleasantly surprised how nice it was. I had no issue with water temperature or weed smell per certain reviews. I'm definitely going back. In fact, I already booked it again for my next trip to NY for my daughter's graduation.

Was on the 54th floor. The best thing about this place was the city view out the window! The AC/heat quality was kind of poor as the air did not circulate very well.

My experience was ok here me and my husband was not too happy our room was very cold & the Couch we had was very worn out. Then on top of that security knock on out door saying our TV was loud and we wasn't even watching tv. For the most part the view was very nice.
