Manhattan's Financial District: Wall Street, Skyscrapers, and the 9/11 Memorial

Once the sole province of day traders and bankers working frenetic jobs at the New York Stock Exchange and on Wall Street, the Financial District has attracted its fair share of full-time residents in recent years. Today, more than 56,000 people live in the neighborhood, which borders The Battery on the southern tip of Manhattan.

The population boom has helped expose the neighborhood’s occasionally overlooked cultural attractions. At the eastern edge of Fulton Street, the revitalized South Street Seaport historic district is home to some of the oldest architecture in downtown Manhattan as well as a fleet of renovated sailing ships and an up-close view of the Brooklyn Bridge. The district is also home to the towering One World Trade Center, which is now the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Right next door, a memorial to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the September 11th attacks is now open for visits, along with a museum.

Terrible service I am very disappointed to see that the credit I was promised by the gentleman for the night we were not able to stay in our reserved room was going to be refunded and the room we did receive was a corner room but not a high floor- I do not understand how if I paid WELL in advance and also checked in when I got to town ( 10 am ) that when I came to pick up the keys my room was NOT available? The ironic part was the same thing was happening to people in front of me but I naively thought because I had already checked in I had nothing to worry about- ALSO- I was told you would move our bags to a "much better room" the next day- When I went to get the new room I was told we had 20 mins before our key stopped working in our old room to grab our stuff and move it to our "new room" which was floor 36- I do not believe that was a " high" room - it was literally the room above where we were-

This is the BEST hotel in NYC. Promote William and give him a raise! We missed our flight home and the next flight wasn’t for 24hrs. We went to a hotel that I booked online at the airport and when we got there they told us they had no rooms and it was a mistake. We then booked here and I’m so happy that other place didn’t work out. William was so kind and compassionate. He upgraded our room to make sure we had the best experience possible to make up for what a horrible night we were having. I can’t even begin to tell you what that meant to us. And when we got to the room! I was besides myself. It’s GORGEOUS! Newly renovated and now we’re kicking ourselves that we didn’t stay here for our entire trip, and sad that we have to go. I won’t be staying in any other hotel in NYC. Thank you so much William!!

Centrally situated and like a warm bath. Hotel stay was great. Only deal and that maybe our luck the rebuilding of the buidling. but that was only for use at least cosmetic. Otherwise staff was very helpful and anticipating.
