Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

I was pleasantly surprised. Very clean room and friendly staff. The bed was very hard, pillows and duvet felt really clean, the room was a nice size. They didn’t have a mini fridge or a microwave. There is a little store across the street and that was super convenient, the elevator it’s crazy fast. The location it’s excellent and we had an amazing view. I would definitely come back!

Comfortable Stay in a Perfect Location—Just Lock the Door Great hotel in an excellent location—just steps from Times Square and close to major attractions, shopping, and affordable dining. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and spacious with a bed, mini fridge, and sofa. I’m giving 4 stars due to some check-in confusion. We were mistakenly given keys to an occupied room because another guest had the same last name. While the issue was corrected quickly, there were a couple instances during our stay where staff entered or attempted to enter the room without knocking or announcing themselves, which was surprising. Overall, a very convenient and comfortable stay. Tip: always use the interior security lock, and bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper due to the Times Square location.

Very poorly maintained, dirty, and rude staff Public Review – Millennium Broadway Hotel, New York City I am documenting my recent stay at Millennium Broadway Hotel so future guests can make an informed decision. The issues below are factual and documented with photos. Room Type & Context I was automatically upgraded at check-in to a top-floor suite because it was empty. This room category normally carries a significantly higher nightly rate than a standard room. All of the issues listed below occurred in this upgraded suite, not a lower-tier room. Room & Maintenance Issues Coffee table top was broken and not securely attached to the base. Curtains were damaged and would not fully close. Tile and grout work appeared poorly done, and at least one floor tile was completely loose and shifted out of place. Bathroom floor was dirty upon arrival. Bathtub did not drain for approximately three hours after shower use, leaving standing water. Lamp had an electrical issue and would not stay on consistently. Cabinet door in front of the refrigerator was broken off; cabinet appeared deteriorated. One main closet contained no hangers, preventing proper storage of clothing. Ventilation vent was loose and not properly secured to the wall. Visible splatter marks on the ceiling and on furniture surfaces. Noise & Elevators Two elevators were out of service during the stay. Remaining elevators produced loud clunking and banging noises that echoed into the hallway and room, starting around 7:00 a.m., repeatedly waking us. Elevator usage was chaotic due to limited service — guests were pressing both up and down buttons just to get an elevator, boarding cars going in the wrong direction, and significantly increasing wait times. Elevator repair personnel were actively working on-site during the stay (photos available), which did not meaningfully resolve the issues. Cleanliness (Common Areas) Hallway light fixtures were visibly dirty and poorly maintained. Front Desk & Package Handling Front desk interactions were unprofessional; multiple staff members, including a manager, were rude and dismissive. A package I had shipped to the hotel was kept in a locked room and was not accessible when needed. Because the package could not be retrieved, we incurred approximately $90 in additional out-of-pocket costs replacing items that had already been shipped. Follow-Up & Resolution Management response acknowledged only a delay in replying, not the condition of the room or service failures. Compensation offered was limited to a future comp night with blackout restrictions, which I declined, as I have no interest in returning. Context I have stayed in hundreds of hotels across the U.S., across many brands and price levels. This was among the poorest experiences I’ve had—particularly considering that these issues occurred in what is positioned as a higher-end suite.

Wonderful staff/ Big Rooms/ Prime location!! The Millennium Broadway Times Square is my “go to” when in NYC. The staff is Top Notch and the location can’t be beat! Not to mention the size of the rooms. They are big compared to most rooms in NYC. I just recently brought a group of 40 and we had 18 rooms total. My entire group LOVED everything about the hotel. I’m already coming back in a few weeks and also planning my next group trip.
