Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

I was pleasantly surprised. Very clean room and friendly staff. The bed was very hard, pillows and duvet felt really clean, the room was a nice size. They didn’t have a mini fridge or a microwave. There is a little store across the street and that was super convenient, the elevator it’s crazy fast. The location it’s excellent and we had an amazing view. I would definitely come back!

We Will be back Would be nice to have some usb ports in the room. Otherwise the stay was a good one. Dealing with reservations was slightly disappointing as we called long distance and our request was never logged and guest services said they couldn’t assist.

Over priced hotel The bed sheets are nasty, there is multiple areas of dirt in it. The bath tub is nasty, the floor of it was all stained and the walls were dirty. The bathroom ceiling also had many areas of mold all over. I never expect a $300.00 per night hotel stay would be this bad.

Location location location The rooms are a bit dated (and some are very small) but the location can’t be beat for seeing Broadway shows, wandering Time Square, and getting on subway to navigate all around the city (within one to two short blocks depending which train line). Daniel at front desk is 10/10. He’s super friendly and can recommend shows and restaurants. There is a little gift/snack shop in the lobby which is convenient for grabbing a Coke. And literally just outside the door is everything you need - Walgreens, a deli that is open late at night and early morning (we grabbed breakfast there each day), and a wonderful Italian restaurant - Osteria Al Doge - we ate dinner there twice in four nights! The hotel has an entrance on 44th and 45th so depending where you are headed that is a time saver. The elevators are fast we never had to wait long.
