Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

I was pleasantly surprised. Very clean room and friendly staff. The bed was very hard, pillows and duvet felt really clean, the room was a nice size. They didn’t have a mini fridge or a microwave. There is a little store across the street and that was super convenient, the elevator it’s crazy fast. The location it’s excellent and we had an amazing view. I would definitely come back!

Decent Room in a Good Location, Hidden Fees The positives are the central location near stores, shops, subway line yet it is very quiet in the hotel. The room is a good size and the views of the city are lovely. It is true that the hotel is outdated, the carpets are dingy, everything is beige, the tub drain was slow. It is also true there is no coffee pot in the room but they will quickly bring you a kettle/tea/coffee if you ask. There is a one small fridge but no microwave. There is no seating area in the lobby so this is important to know if you are with someone who is disabled, with a senior citizen, or someone who can't stand for long periods of time. There are no restaurants in the hotel and no breakfast. *** The reason I am writing this review is because of the hotel's hidden fees. There is nowhere on the website, or fine print in the invoice, or was I told in person there is a fee for storing luggage if the room is not ready. Checkin is at 4 pm (late for hotel standards) so they store your bags but what they don't tell you is that this is not a courtesy. They charge a porterage fee for groups. An apparent kindness is actually a way to charge you money. This was not disclosed at any time so make sure to ask if you are being charged for this service and offer them a credit card who will be on your side if disputing these hidden and undisclosed charges. The bell hops, cleaning people, and staff who service your room are generally very nice. If you come, just know it's a little outdated but if you want a safe hotel that is in a convenient location and generally clean, this is fine.

Good hotel at a relatively reasonable price The Millennium is a good, attractive hotel in a great location for Broadway and midtown. Neat and clean, and at a relatively reasonable price compared to outrageous rates at comparable NYC hotels.

Not worth the money, old, outdated, dirty. My daughter and I stayed at the millenium hotel, times square location this past weekend for the rockettes show Sat night. The front desk folks were kind enough to hold our luggage for a few hours when we arrived early. Check in wasn’t until 4p and we couldn’t check in until then. Even then, our original room we booked on a high floor “with a view” wasnt ready at 4p so they supposedly upgraded us to another room on much lower floor. It certainly wasnt an upgrade. It was very loud/ noisy ( expected being times square) . The room was hot, set @74 degrees, and we couldn’t adjust the temperature. And although the close location to surrounding landmarks/ theatre district was great ( walk to most area attractions), The room itself was old , outdated, and dirty. Sadly we spent alot of money to stay here and I would not recommend this hotel and wouldn’t stay here again.
