Downtown Boston: Revolution-Era Landmarks and Modern Skyscrapers

Downtown Boston is home to one of the country’s wackiest city layouts. Its colonial-village lanes converge, split, and take hairpin turns, creating a maze of cobblestone that, though frustrating for drivers, makes for a fun walking experience. If you’re visiting for the first time, the best way to navigate the area is to follow the 2.5-mile-long Freedom Trail, which takes you past 16 historical landmarks, including Paul Revere’s home, Old North Church (of “One if by land, two if by sea” fame), and Faneuil Hall. You can use Boston public transportation to explore the city if you tire of walking.

Since the area is also the city’s financial district, centuries-old fixtures share sidewalk space with modern 40-story office towers. You’ll find suit-clad professionals grabbing lunch on Washington Street, which is lined with street vendors and flower shops. Downtown is also where you’ll find several of the city’s quirkier neighborhoods, such as the Leather District. With its rustic warehouses, the neighborhood is the closest example of what the business center looked like in the 1800s.

Room had a phenomenal view and perfect location. Central to everything. Rooms are small but every hotel I’ve stayed in Boston was small. This was our favorite so far.

We had a great view, the hotel was modern, new age and beautiful. Everything was great and I will be visiting again. The room is a little small but who cares, it’s not like you are spending the vaca in the room. 5 STARS

Awesome and very cool hotel! Fun and I’d definitely go back. Close to everything and an Uber ride away from everywhere else.

Overall we had a really nice stay here. The room and hotel were very clean and in a great location. One of the only real negatives for us was that there was no mini fridge in the room. We were upset to realize after our stay we booked and paid extra for a river view room which we did not receive. I would still return to hotel but wouldn’t bother spending extra for the view.

Very loud in the rooms. Could hear everything going on in the street. Including conversations of club goers from 17 floors up. Had to use ear plugs. I’ve stayed all over the world in all sorts of hotels. This was the loudest by far. Could hear the TVs of both rooms next to me as well. It’s a hotel. Really should’ve invested in sound dampening.. the bar was nice. The look and vibe was great.

Only gave it 3 stars instead of 4 because the customer service was so-so. Upon check-in we were knew there would be a $25 per day destination fee but conveniently they said that price was a “pre-covid” price and we were charged $75 per day stay…which was absolutely ridiculous. I basically paid for another nights stay in fees. Comfy and cosy for 3 nights/ 2 people but VERY pricey hidden fees :/
