Killington, Vermont: Hiking in the Green Mountains

The small Vermont town of Killington is home to one of the most scenic segments of the 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail, winding through the Green Mountains toward Thundering Falls, a 140-foot cascade tumbling down a stepped rock formation. Its rushing falls generate a soothing sound that can rise to a roar when the water’s high.

In winter, skiers flock to Killington Resort, home of the largest vertical drop in New England at more than 3,000 feet. During the off-season, visitors can take scenic gondola rides to the top of Killington Peak. Here they can admire the view of the mountains as they spill over into New Hampshire.

An Amazing Resort In Killington Vermont! This property is absolutely amazing! The location is great with skiing, markets, restaurants and nightlife just down the road. The rooms are clean and spacious, with a refrigerator and microwave in each room. The room is quiet and the beds are comfortable. The suites are absolutely breathtaking! The staff is amazing from the maintenance people, to housekeeping, the front desk clerks and the management. They were so helpful in recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. They have excellent amenities including a gorgeous and very big outdoor heated pool, a super nice fitness room, a game room with Wii and air hockey, lots of lobby seating with a fireplace, a bar area in the winter time with entertainment, laundry facilities, picnic tables with outdoor grills and even a small shop for snacks, food, drinks, necessities and even souvenirs. I HIGHLY recommend The NorthStar Inn and Resort wand I cannot wait to come back!

Everything you need, just not "fancy" The resort was exactly what we expected and needed for our trip. It is a great location for hiking on the Appalachian Trail. The lodge is a bit run down. For example, carpet in hallways needs to be replaced, crack in hallway ceiling, lot of chipped walls and baseboards. The unit was as expected - bed was comfortable, bathroom roomy. It would have been nice to have larger televisions. Silverware, utensils, etc. were

Enjoyable getaway We had a king bed size room. The room was clean, spacious and came with a portable fridge. The pool water was around 90 degrees, so no problems getting use to cold water. The a/c unit worked well but a bit noisy and the toilet seat was loose and a very short toilet. Definitely would go back.
