Reno, Nevada: Casino City with Arts and Outdoor Adventure

Reno lives up to its billing as “The Biggest Little City in the World" thanks to its flashy casinos, cultural centers, and restaurants worthy of a much larger metropolis, all packed together on Virginia Street. If you need a break from courting Lady Luck at the big gaming palaces such as Circus Circus and Harrah's (which was born here), head to the Truckee River Arts District to explore the Nevada Museum of Art and the National Automobile Museum. Because of its location at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and just east of Tahoe National Forest, the city also puts visitors within reach of rushing rivers and high mountain ranges for hiking, rafting, and gold-rush reenacting.

4.8… We enjoyed our room, it was overall, what we expected. The pool experience was a lot of fun (family friendly). We ate at Rosie’s and the Island grill and enjoyed the meals we had, would definitely recommend. The downfalls were, we never received the resort credit included with this package . It was unclear how to use it, and the slots were freezing cold lol. Overall a great time!

When my flight was canceled, they let me check in my room and gave me an extended checkout time as a courtesy.

Poor, with many extra charges They charge $5.99 to charge your room, an extra $10. To have coffee in room, a high resort fee and the WiFi is intermittent. I would not recommend this hotel. No matter what you ask for it is usually No. . There are better places to stay in the area.

Is this the worse hotel in Reno/Sparks? Absolute UGH! What a particular shame this visit was. This was not the first time we stayed at this hotel but it will be the last. We used to love this hotel/casino, attending the BBQ festival and holiday times, it's gone down the drain. We made it through 4 days, barely. We stayed in the casino tower on the 28th floor and you can still hear the freeway noise as if you were on the middle of it, ear plugs are necessary. The elevators are all vandalized (scratched in on the doors), the garage doors (all levels) to the skyway are not ADA meaning if you are in a wheelchair, you will be struggling with opening these doors. The first night we checked in they shut off the water with no notice- seriously? No toilet, no washing your hands and no shower. Returned after dinner and playing and not able to take a shower. Called down thinking this was a glitch but nope, water turned off till (they said) 3am. I waited until 3:37am, since I always take a shower before heading to bed and still no water. So disappointing. That morning, while taking a shower, the tub nearly overflowed, that is more than 12 inches... Noticed strong odor of sweat socks in the room that first night , reported it and they said they would send someone to look into the air-conditioning (probably dirty filters) and a plumber for the shower. So began our second day. We also went down to the front desk to get assurances that the water would not be turned off that night. I spoke to a manager, Kimberly (who could honestly give two figs-and you know I want to say something else), and she assured me that she would call me before 5pm that night to let me know if we had to alter our plans in order to make sure we were able to take a shower that night before we went to sleep. Gave her my room number three times. Came back and no messages from the front desk. I let the phone ring for minutes at the front desk and no one answered. I called housekeeping and they said that the water would remain on. Brother, I could not believe how awful this hotel was run. On our third day before we left for the day, we called housekeeping to make sure our room would be cleaned and returned from a long day at Lake Tahoe to a dirty room, no towels, bed not made, trash overflowing. I had, up to this point, felt like housekeeping was the best dept at this hotel. They, at least, were pleasant and accomodating. The worse thing that happened on this trip, happened this night/morning. At 3:43 am, a woman began screaming profanities in the hallway. She was screaming and screeching she would "kill him". I called down to the front desk and she relayed me to security. I could not believe this riot of absolute crap we had to put up with at this awful place. The yelling died down. I was frustrated and so incredibly tired, able to fall back to sleep and then at 4:18am, she was back, screaming "heartbreaker!" and threatening to kill him again. Honestly, as I am writing this, I want to laugh with sadness and a feeling of increduality at this comedy of crap. I called back to the front desk who informed me that security knows who she is and had come up before, but they will come back after rounds. My head nearly popped off. I was so done with this f-ing place. What a terrible joke. I thought about calling the police but kinda gave up at that point. If I heard gunshots, I'd call... We both are gamblers but refused to gamble here and it would've been so convenient to do so. But we choose to use our money to vote against this place. WIth tourism at casino hotels what it is-Vegas is this side of a ghost town, you would think that guests would be treated well, their concerns attended to and things spruced up to try and make an effort. Not here. Whatever you do, avoid this place like the plague unless you wish to have drunks screaming in the hallway in the middle of the night, wish to bathe in filthy water or not shower at all and the worse hotel service you've ever experienced. Boo-hiss!

Def not a "Gold" Nugget. I paid for my room, plus resort fees and the $$ they witheld for essentials. Check-in was easy. High floor, close to elevator, nice view. It was a Monday after Hot August Night so the place was empty. So my experience is as follows, absolutely no pay-outs, nothing, nada. Well, several machines game me a little what I put into them which I shouldve taken the hint and left. The best thing about the Nugget was Rosies Restaurant. Shout out to Tamra and Kim. Food was great too. Now, my room, mediocre. I had a 2Q rm. So I got dinner to go and took it to my room. The glass table had crap all over it that could be seen in sunlight so I had to use my clorox wipes to clean it. As i'm sitting in the chair by the table I notice 2 red gummies on the floor. Hasn't been vacuumed either! No coffee maker but as I reched to open closet door to find refrig, the handle was sticky. I wiped that down too. The bathroom was clean. Oh, the morning I was leaving, The water mustve been shut off cause it was spurting and acting weird. The Bell Desk employees were very pleasant and helpfull. I stayed at Circus Circus prior to Nugget. I rate them a 5 star and the Nugget a 2.
