Key Largo, Florida: White-Sand Beaches and Shipwreck Scuba Dives

The largest and northernmost key in the Florida Keys archipelago, Key Largo is known for its excellent diving. There are spectacular underwater shipwrecks and coral formations here, and numerous diving charter boats in the area will take you to the best sites. At Elbow Reef, off the coast of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, you may come face-to-face with moray eel and hawksbill turtles.

Herons, roseate spoonbills, and other local waterfowl live at Florida Keys Wild Bird Center, located in Tavernier, the southwestern part of Key Largo. It serves as a sanctuary for birds that have been injured or displaced. Nearby is Harry Harris Park Beach—one of the best beaches in the area, particularly for families. A large coral rock blocks big waves from coming in, so it’s calm enough for kids to play in the surf. There are also a number of grills and picnic tables here.

  • Parking: On-site self parking is included in the resort fee. Up to two vehicles per reservation. Maximum 2 vehicles per reservation are allowed on property. No commercial vehicles, vehicles with advertisement, recreational vehicles, trailers or RV's are allowed on property. Please contact the property for any questions regarding what vehicles are permitted on property. If you need assistance with a boat slip, please call 305-440-2773.
  • Boat Policy: If your plans include bringing a boat, the marina can accommodate vessels up to 28', including the motor. Please contact the DockMaster office for fees and availability. A minimum of two (2) weeks advance reservations are required. Proof of insurance and registration will be required prior to confirmation of your boat reservation. Due to limited space, no boat will be allowed on property if prior arrangements have not been made with the DockMaster office. Jet Skis and Jet Boats are not permitted on the property at any time.

Condo worked very well for a Boys dive weekend in the Upper Keys! Great check-in experience! Diamond Jennings was very nice and explained everything about the condo and area very clearly. Condo was a nice size and very clean. The furniture (especially beds and pillows) could use a little updating but totally worked for my family's use as we were visiting the Upper Keys for a scuba dive weekend from the Orlando area. The condo was well furnished and clean. We booked a 2-bedroom condo with 2 bathrooms. Worked perfectly for me (wife decided not to come at the last minute) in the King master bedroom and my two boys (20yo and 16yo) in the two twin bedroom. We will definitely return!

so so In my opinion the accommodations not the best quality for the fees charged. Second unit we were moved to by Joely Gonzalez, excellent customer service received from her, was a little better. They only provided 2 washcloths for a unit that sleeps 6 people. Also, the gentlemen at the front gate did not speak a word of English.

If you want to be locked in a hot elevator for a dream vacation this is your trip Terrible went as a family quick 3 trip my sister and her husband that has cancer and in kidney failure also took our parents on that our in mid 80's we have been here for less than 24 hours now and it now the fifth time we have been stuck in an elevator that we have been promised has fixed in 90 degrees weather The ice machine is pouring out water that freezes up and you could Ice skate in the freezer now No Internet or cable for 18 hours then we had to reset the cable boxes ourself Smoke detector beeping which we was promised to be fixed the first night we finally disconnected that ourselves Not handicap friendly as of when we got there all the throw rugs did not have slip pads no grip bars in the shower my mother almost fell as soon as she walked in the front door we had to go get a grip bar portable grip bar from the local store to put in the shower so she could shower We have reached out to the lady we're renting from we've also talked to the president of the community nothing has been done no offer to reimburse or even apologize for any of this although they promise this place was clean it is not when I did have to pull up one of the laboratory faucet things is full of hair I would definitely not recommend this place you'll definitely be reaching out to Me and my sister are both registered nurses have very little time off between taking care of her husband and my parents and full-time the only supporters of our family what we supposed to be a nice trip has turned into a nightmare trip that is just a wasted our money and our time definitely would not recommend this place to my worst enemy
